The Schiavo circus cemented Bush's reputation as a hardcore religious conservative willing to use the power of the state to impose his own morality on the wrenching personal decisions of others.

Are these really the "forward-looking" ideas that Republicans are seeking?

Bush may still be a superstar in Republican circles, but that is precisely why the party is foundering. Bush's ideas won't get us to a better tomorrow where average Americans enjoy decent jobs, a health care system that works for everyone and a regulatory structure that reins in recklessly greedy and anti-worker practices in the private sector.

But if what you care most about is keeping people in vegetative states artificially alive against the wishes of their spouse, then he's your man.

If they use the BUSH name to push in the next election they will sorely be mistaken.

Bush
Palin
Jindal

All losers of the GOP.

American's are sick of the BUSH brand of politics.
Palin-inept and to fundie for most of America. Her anti-feminist ways will hurt the GOP.

I have to admit that I feel a little sorry for Jeb. Here he was groomed as the favorite son to be his father's successor in the White House and along comes his jerk-off, reckless brother George who takes the prize instead and probably guarantees that there won't be another Bush in the White House for at least a generation or two, if ever.

Very true. George messed it up for him.

But JEB lost face all on his own with the Schiavo case.

Don't give Big brother George all the credit for the demise of the un-Constitutional Florida's ex-governor John Ellis Bush political career. Jeb Bush did the majority of it on his own trying to score some political points with the RTL and RR, using the Terri Schiavo Tragedy with its media coverage.

In all of this, Governor John Ellis Bush has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the office of the Governor, has betrayed his trust as Governor, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the State of Florida.

In his conduct while Governor of the State of Florida, John Ellis Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of Governor of the State of Florida and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitutions of the United States and of the State of Florida, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed and impeded the administration of justice, and has to that end engaged personally and through his subordinates and the legislators of the Florida, in a course of conduct or scheme designed only to delay and impede and/or willfully manipulate the adjudication of the Judicial Branch.

Wherefore, Governor John Ellis Bush, by such conduct, warranted impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

In summary:

John Ellis Bush and the supporting Florida Legislators violated Florida separation of powers.

The Florida’s Legislative Branch relinquished control of the Legislature to the Executive Branch because of coercion. Giving the Executive Branch control of the Judicial Branch

List of Violations:

The means the Governor John Ellis Bush used to implement this Chapter 2003-418 and course of conduct or scheme included one or more of the following un-Constitutional acts:
I. Governor John Ellis Bush’s actions were an unprecedented invasion of Terri Schiavo’s right to control her health care treatment and violate her Constitutional rights.
A. Mrs. Schiavo has a fundamental privacy right to refuse unwanted medical
treatment.
B. The State has no compelling interest in authorizing Governor John Ellis Bush to unilaterally override the wishes of Mrs. Schiavo regarding her own medical treatment and bodily integrity.
C. The statute is not narrowly tailored to further any arguable state interest but
instead affords no protections against over-intrusiveness and impermissibly
discriminates against patients who fail to execute advance written directives.

II. Chapter 2003-418 violates Florida’s strict separation of powers and impermissibly
usurps the Judicial power.
A. The central concern of the framers of the U.S. Constitution and the drafters of the Florida Constitution was to ensure that the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial powers would be exercised by different bodies.
B. In the presuit of Chapter 2003-418, the Governor Bush instructed the Legislative leadership to pass HB-12E and SB-12E, bypassing Constitutional procedures, thus giving the Executive Branch control of the Legislative Branch.
C. Chapter 2003-418 impermissibly assigns Judicial power to the Executive Branch by allowing it to nullify a judgment of the Judicial Branch.
D. Even if Chapter 2003-418 was a delegation of non-Judicial power, it would nonetheless violate the separation of power doctrine because it gives the Governor standardless discretion.

III. Chapter 2003-418 violates a host of other Constitutional provisions
A. Chapter 2003-418 is a Violation of Equal Protection.
B. Chapter 2003-418 is an unlawful Bill of Attainder.
C. Chapter 2003-418 is an invalid Special Law.
D. Chapter 2003-418 is Unconstitutionally Vague.

Being up here in Ohio, I only got to watch Jeb from afar. His intervention in the Schiavo case convinced me that he was probably a bigger fanatic than George and, even worse, really thinks he's a dedicated conservative. I kept holding my breath while all the candidates were lining up to run for the Republican nomination last year, praying "oh please, not Jeb, oh please not another Bush".

I don't think you have to worry about John Ellis Bush going to Washington, D.C. with any kind of elected position. The rightous citizens of Florida and of the nation have had enough Bushs' "Do what ever it takes" mentality, their un-enforced un-Contitutional violations, bad ethics and so-called Christians values.

I heard through the grapevine that the ex-Florida governor will be running for president. Since I supported his efforts to save Ms Schiavo, I would vote for him. I would be delighted, if another Bush set in the Oval Office.

Save Mrs Schiavo? The ex-Florida governor was a little late to save Mrs Schiavo from the damage of her family of origin since Mrs Schiavos life and future had already been destroyed long before the ex-Florida governor even knew who Mrs Schiavo was.

The ex-Florida governors efforts to trample on separation of powers wouldn't have "saved" Mrs Schiavo from the efforts being made by her family of origin to trample on her right of medical self determination.

The ex-florida governor was not an ally of Mrs Schiavo.

The ex-Florida governor had joined forces with the family of origin that was doing all it could to damage and destroy Mrs Schiavo's right to medical self determination.

In terms of government intrusion and interference upon the rights, freedoms and liberty of Mrs Schiavo the ex-Florida governor was one of the first government officials in line to plan and stage the governments attack on Mrs Schiavo's rights.

Of course his efforts were ruled unconstitutional- no surprise to anyone that completed their grade school United States history lessons, government classes or civics course.

At the time of Terri Schiavo's collapse, on February 25, 1990, the provisions of the Life-Prolonging Procedure Act of Florida,at Fla. Stat.--765.01 - 765.15 (1990) did not include feeding tubes as being life support. Later in 1990 Stat. 765.01 was changed to read as follows:

(1.) The Florida Legislature established as a state public policy " the right of a competent adult to make an oral or written declaration instructing his physician to provide, withhold, or withdraw "life-prolonging procedures," or to designate another to make the treatment decisions for him, in the event that such person should be diagnosed as suffering from a "terminal condition."

The Statue, 765.03 (1990) defined "life prolonging procedure" as "any medical procedure, treatment, or intervention which:
(a) Utilizes mechanical or other artificial means to sustain, restore, or supplant a spontaneous vital function; and
(b) When applied to a patient in a terminal condition, serves only to prolong the process of dying.

The term "life-prolonging procedure" does not include the provision of sustenance or the administration of medication or performance of any medical procedure deemed necessary to provide comfort care or alleviate pain."

Fla. Stat. 765.03 (6)(1990) defined a "terminal condition" as "a condition caused by injury, disease, or illness from which, to a reasonable degree of medical certainty, there can be no recovery and which makes death imminent."
Jeb Bush, as Governor of the State of Florida, heeded the pleas of Terri Schiavo's biological family[2003]; who were also citizens of Florida.

Many of the judges, involved in the Schiavo case, were involved in the Estelle Browning case, and the Harmond "Hank" Pinette case; as was George Felos. In fact, the judge who found Terri's Law unconstitutional was directly involved in the Schiavo case in July 1990.

So. It really was not surprising that Judge W. Douglas Baird [who signed " Letters of Plenary Guardian" declaring " Michael Richard Schiavo duly qualified under the laws of the State of Florida to act as the plenary guardian(s) of Theresa M. Schiavo Incapacitated Person, and to act on behalf of the Incapacitated Person with full power to have care, custody, and control of the ward, to exercise all deletable rights of the law, and to take possession of and hold, for the benefit of said Incapacitated Person all the property of said Incapacitated Person, and of rents, income, issues, and profits from it..."]found Terri's Law unconstitutional.

Please, tell me why the Schiavo family[all in-laws of Terri's] should considered Terri's family, when her own blood family were her biological family. In-laws can come and go,as Michael and his new wife have proven. But a sister, brother, mom, and dad, cannot be replaced.

I have nothing but praise for the elected officials who stood tall and spoke loudly, in an effort to save Ms Schiavo's life.

Then you completely agree with bushes waterboarding, torture, lies, and cheating. Bush bringing this country to the brink of another depression.

Not only that the village idiots named BUSH, all fall lockstep in line with the RR who spoon fed them all that people wanted RELIGION in government.

Terri Schiavo's brain was 1/2 the size of a normal person with massive global damage. She was a shell being forced to exist for the "joy" of her deluded family. NO therapies would have helped her.

There were events happening to or with Terri Schiavo that caused the Schindlers limited access. 1) Violations of court orders. 2) Not given access when Michael Schiavo was with Terri for two.

I don’t blame Michael one bit for restricting their access because of their falsehoods and false character assassination of Michael.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
