The Republicans in Congress during Republican administrations gave Reagan and both Bushes nearly every dollar they asked for. A Democrat takes office and suddenly and magically they morph into supposed budget hawks. Where were they when Cheney uttered the irresponsible remark that deficits don't matter? The Democrats at the same time keep proposing new programs that we can't afford.
