Le Jimbo wrote: <quoted text>Michelle Obama, as we reported on July 7, is not served by twenty-two attendants who stand by to cater to her every whim. She is served by twenty-six attendants, including a hair dresser and make-up artist. Deilia A.(Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady) Readers throughout the country expressed outrage that Mrs. Obama would hire an unprecedented number of staffers in the midst of the Great Recession. Lelyveld said that Michelle Obama’s staff was actually no different than that of her predecessor, Laura Bush. "[W]e have exactly the same staff number as Mrs. Bush and our office organization reflects a similar staffing model, so insinuations otherwise are wrong," she said. Lelyveld said that the White House’s "personnel records indicate" that there were 24 staffers for Laura Bush at some point. We were able to verify at least 18 staffers for Laura Bush, as of June 30, 2008, via the 2008 White House staff list published in The Washington Post’s White House Watch column. Sixteen people were specifically referred to as a "first lady" staffer, and Amy Zantzinger and Dorothy Thornton served as White House social secretary and deputy social secretary, respectively. It’s possible that someone with the title of "staff assistant" was assigned to the Office of First Lady as well, as is the case with Michelle Obama’s staff. The combined annual salaries for the 22 staffers we can specifically identify as working for Michelle Obama come to $1.6 million. For the 18 we could identify as working for Laura Bush in 2008, the total is $1.4 million. Dr. Myra Gutin, a professor of communications at Rider University and a first ladies historian, says that the first lady’s role has certainly "grown and evolved" since the 1960s, but generally speaking, the first lady’s "staff numbers about 14-16." Gutin told us she recalled "some first ladies have had staffs of more than that." –D’Angelo Gore http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/michelle-oba...

Despite reporting income of $21.7 million, the couple paid only $20,603 in taxable wages for household help in 2010. This figure was divided among four women: Rosania Costa ($4,808), Kelli Harrison ($8,667), Susan Moore ($2,238) and Valerie Cravens Anae ($4,890). According to a number of Boston-based domestic staffing agencies, the salary range for a housekeeper is between $20 and $30 an hour, which adds up to an annual salary of $40,000 to $50,000 based on forty-hour weeks and two weeks of paid vacation a year.

Did it say WHERE they worked?? Washington, DC OR Chicago. They probably helped 'maintain' his Chicago household. <maybe> The Obama's had PLENTY of 'help' working for them in Washington, DC on the taxpayers dime.

Okay, I’m willing to show some patience here and try to gently coax you along as you clearly are not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. You see, we don’t really have a problem with business in general or the private equity business in particular, we are only interested in Romney’s own record — the very record Romney is running on, which is his career at Bain. Romney has steadily misrepresented that history in his effort to position himself as a Mr. Fix-it for the economy and a brilliant exemplar of job creation in the private sector. Problem is, job creation was not, never has been, Romney’s mission at Bain his sole and only mission was to maximize the investors profits whether it created jobs or eliminated jobs or eliminated a company altogether, that never even entered his mind, such trivialities are of no concern with corporate raiders or corporate vultures! Is it any wonder that Romney is a multi millionaire and Joe Blow who lost his job is on food stamps – way to go Mitt!

Maybe you can't read very well. "1) a "low and moderate" income goal, targeting borrowers earning no more than an area's median income; 2) an "underserved area" goal, targeting people in neighborhoods whose residents earned 90-95% of an area's median income; and 3) a "special affordable" goal, focused on people earning no more than 60% of an area's median, or living in exceptionally poor neighborhoods." So based on your reading comprehension level the above passage has been interpreted by you to mean that people with Bad Credit are to be given loans by Banks, and therefore servicing these group collapsed the economy?........ ROFLMAO, you're wrong because you can't read, or understand that simple paragraph and have no understanding of how to calculate the figures involved in the passage. I'm going to break some of this down for you based solely on what that passage you posed contains. You make the correlation that "targeting borrowers earning no more than an area's median income;" or, low income borrowers automatically means bad credit? You do understand that $34,000 Dollar a year is Low Income, right? The Median Income in America is $28,000 Or, residents earning 90% to 95% of an area's median income, say some of the shipyard workers at NG, would be approx $24,700 to %31,000. Guess what, all of those salaries are low income, welcome to America. All of those salaries qualify for Wage Subsidies at income tax time if those employees don't work overtime. GoodNewz wrote: <quoted text> fannie and freddie backed a high percentage of the risky loans, and made a lot of money doing so . the pressure was absolutely political. all of us nice politicians are gonna make sure you people who are not credit worthy can get a house anyway. my experience is that a "troll" is one who hurls insults when he has weak facts... "In 1992 Congress changed the rules of the game. It charged Fannie and Freddie with boosting homeownership among poor and minority families. It did this by adopting a series of complex, overlapping housing "affordability" goals. These came in three varieties: 1) a "low and moderate" income goal, targeting borrowers earning no more than an area's median income; 2) an "underserved area" goal, targeting people in neighborhoods whose residents earned 90-95% of an area's median income; and 3) a "special affordable" goal, focused on people earning no more than 60% of an area's median, or living in exceptionally poor neighborhoods. Congress justified these goals by contending the GSEs should advance policy objectives because the federal government had conferred so many advantages upon them not available to their competitors. The legislation delegated to the Department of Housing and Urban Development the power to increase Fannie and Freddie's affordability goals, which it did. In 1993, the "low and moderate income goal" was 30% of the GSEs mortgages. By 2008, it was 56%. From 1993 to 2008, the "underserved area" goal went from 30% to 39%. To Morgenson and Rosner, the housing affordability goals led "more than any other single act...to the disastrous home lending practices of the 2000s." To the Stern School economists, the combination of ambitious affordability goals and the GSEs' lax capital requirements transformed Fannie and Freddie collectively into "the largest hedge fund on the planet." Each backed hundreds of billions of dollars of ever-riskier home loans, which generated high profits in good times but exposed them to enormous losses, should the economy weaken. Losses then might swamp the GSEs' thin capital base."

The Passage simply provides insurance that workers earning less than $34,000 have access to mortgage services to buy homes that they can afford on their small salaries. By no means were banks directed to provide loans to people who were unqualified or could not repay the loans...... In the South for instance wages are depressed and the average income does not exceed $25,000, more than a half of the working population doesn't make more than $25,000 in most all Red Conservative States in America. You are just having problem understanding what you read because by no means does the words in the post you presented validate your theory...... "politicians are gonna make sure you people who are not credit worthy can get a house." ....... "1) a "low and moderate" income goal, targeting borrowers earning no more than an area's median income; 2) an "underserved area" goal, targeting people in neighborhoods whose residents earned 90-95% of an area's median income; and 3) a "special affordable" goal, focused on people earning no more than 60% of an area's median, or living in exceptionally poor neighborhoods."

Romney is in it for him and his profiting. Dismantle, and auction off parts of the Federal Government and divide the money among a few close associates and Friends, exactly the model he followed at Bain Capital. With Republicans since 1972 the aim has always been the same, to Gut the Federal Government like a fish, and implement States Right, the disolvement of the United States of America in favor of a Confederacy of individual States. This is the focus of the Right Extremist since the inception of the Civil Rights Act and the abolishment of Jim Crow Laws in the South... Already in southern state they have found away to lock minorities our of the voting booth so the ground work is already laid out. Whether Obama gets reelected or not, for minorities in those state with new restrictions on American citizens life is going to be hell, they've found a way to negate the growing hispanic population and keep blacks out of the voting booth.

The only reform that Bush wanted for F&F was to take it away from congressional supervision and place it under the Treasury. He wanted he them to be able to buy the worthless securities that where flooding wall street. That God that never happened. The problem with F&F at the time was they were losing big time market share to the private mortgage buyers. They went from almost an 80% market share to below a 30% market share. They could not compete with the non conforming loans that were being sold on Wall Street.

Explaining the dynamics that surround the collapse after all of the years of lies on republican tv is useless. a major problem is the inability to read well enough to understand some of the passages they, themselves use to try to bolster their failed points. swampmudd wrote: <quoted text>The only reform that Bush wanted for F&F was to take it away from congressional supervision and place it under the Treasury. "The president who campaigned for a more “open government” and “full disclosure” will not unseal his medical records, his school records, his birth records or his passport records. He will not release his Harvard records, his Columbia College records, or his Occidental College records—he will not even release his Columbia College thesis. All his legislative records from the Illinois State Senate are missing and he claims his scheduling records during those State Senate years are lost as well. In addition, no one can find his school records for the elite K-12 college prep school, Punahou School, he attended in Hawaii."
