This film reminds me of a typical rags to riches story. Still looks like an useful vehicle for Abhishek Bachchan and Ashwarya Rai to display some good acting. It should be an interesting story, and hopefully it will not be told in a slow plodding manner. A true story (albiet with some cinematic liberties) is always worth extra moolah with the audiences.
Music should sync perfectly with the film, as can be seen with the lovely Tera Bina song. Aishwarya Rai once again displays simple but beautiful dancing. It captures your attention, and this is one film for the more 'thoughtful and patient' viewer.
The one big mistake is the casting of Mithun Crap-butterly. He is awful, truly awful. The Bengali foolish lead man of yesteryear is sadly back. He was no good back then when he made silly films left, right and centre. He is no good now. He also looks sooooo old. He looks like a cockroach!
Vidya Balan is a future star, if only her nose hole was a little smaller (and she varied her dressing style). Still she is one to watch.
Film was made for between 15 - 20 Cr. Thus a good first week of 12-15 will suffice. After all Yuva opened with something similar, but it was higher budget that's why it failed to make it to hit. Hopefully the same won't happen with this.

Only talent can make an actor receive A FILMFARE N SCREEN award in a film directed by TVL PRASAD. B4 writing nonsense i advise u 2 watch MUJRIM n PREM PRATTIGYA. Since mithun has accepted to cut his hair short after more than 30 years in film industry is a clear indication of what a perfomance in GURU

What cheap drugs are you on my friend, only two actors in Indian cinema has won the national award 3 times, Mithunda 2 on his debut movie, not even the likes of these stereo types Amitabh Bachan and Sha Ru Khan can accomplish that feat.........Mithun is such a versatile actor and he makes the most difficult role look simple, I mean when he was in Russia shooting Lucky with Salman, the hotel reception were flogged with his supporters chanting songs from the greatest indian movie of all time "DISCO DANCER".......... So I suggest you take your finger out your A$$, you don't belong here if you're not a fan of Mithun Dada..........

oh baby, you sure have a age less than 30, so you missed all the mithun mania of eighties. he worked with beautiful actresses of that time including zeenat aman , poonam dhillon, sridevi, anita raj, and also worked with powerful bollywood actors like sunil dutt, raj kumar and dharmendra..
interestingly his movie 'ghar ek mandir' was pirated and made available to grey market about three weeks before the movie release, but the movie was still a smash hit at theatres.
mithunda is a simple actor with very rural indian face, in fact he is a superstar of rural and semi urban india, he is probably known to 70% of the Indian population that could roughly reach to 70 crore+ mark.. his old movies still run to packed houses in rural centres..
no one from the newer generation will be able to touch these marks buddy..
I wish mithunda to do selected movies only because he has no competition with any one, now he should only do quality films..
he is unmatched charishma.. my best wishes to dada.

While the topic whether Mithun is better than Amitabh boils down to personal favorites, the fact remains that Mithun Chakraborty, an actor par excellence, has been probably the most underrated in Bollywood. While Amitabh is a living legend, gaining unparalleled popularity...playing all his cards right, saying/doing the right things at the right time...Mithun holds the fort on his own. Debuting at a time when the Big B, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra ruled the celluloid, his lonesome struggle (without a godfather or big banners backing him up) and ultimate superstardom delineates a poignant story of indomitable courage, determination and sheer will. Hailed as the 'King of Disco'- taking the dance form to unprecedented heights - tags like the 'first dancing phenomenon','a la Jackson','Indian Bond', have often suppressed his caliber as an outstanding actor. The arrogant, so-called classy critics and a segment of the audience have often written him off as the hero of B-grade films often forgetting that Mithun gave his best even in these less popular movies. The fact that Mithun has won several prestigious awards, including the National Award in his debut film and couple of times thereafter, worked with notable directors like Mrinal Sen, Buddhadev Dasgupta, Rituparno Ghosh (delivering a realistic yet again superb performance in his 'Titli') and currently Mani Ratnam, suffice him being an outstanding actor with tremendous potential. Interestingly he was the first to be conferred the 'megastar' title when superstar Amitabh was ruling the silver screen. Rumor has it that a certain section of the Bollywood industry sabotaged his roles, especially in movies he starred with the Big B. It is ironical, but not surprising that Amitabh (as a typical angry-man hero) got the award for Agneepath when Mithun's portrayal of the charming Krishnan Iyer, MA goes down as a memorable performance! It is a delight that he has been ruling the Bengali film industry recently (his role and dialogues in 'Phata Keshto' becoming legendary), giving the younger actors a run for their lives, and has staged a worthy comeback in Bollywood with 'Guru'(surprisingly his neat cameo in 'Lucky' was mostly unnoticed)! It is a shame that this versatile talent has gone unnoticed by many but rays of hope still loom as MAX dedicates a tribute by hosting a fortnight long festival 'Lage Haho Mithunda!'
At a time when Amitabh didn't care for 'older looking' roles and chose to portray father to his own self in double-roles, Mithun boldly ventured into new arenas, donning new avatars and experimenting with deglamorised looks. Although Mithun became an icon in the 80s, he failed to retain the peak of superstardom due to his lack of manipulation, and by letting his heart rule (and this Bengal tiger having a heart of gold is a well known fact)! Whether or not he will be remembered as a great actor or not, he will certainly be remembered as a great human being lending out a hand when needed. Perhaps, that's what has cost him -- he put his own career in line to help others and was definitely not selective! Call him foolish, call him naïve or gullible, it shows that he still remembered where he came from and didn't let the glitzy world change him. At least Bengal will not forget their darling Mithun da and will always honor this tall, dark and handsome man with a heartwarming smile!
This is my first post ever…but topic was too irresistible…sorry for the length.
