I base my understanding completely on what is written. But I don't take any single verse or section standing alone outside the context of the rest of scripture.
Belief that God WANTS the government to execute people when that is contrary to the clear teaching throughout the rest of the New Testament and when it contradicts the plain words of Jesus is simply not faithful Biblical interpretation.
Your eager support of the government killing people comes out of your vengeful fallen nature and not from the will of God.
Daniel here,
You can have the last word here. The fact is we are commanded to make righteous judgments (Jn7:24). Either I did that or you are doing that, but it will not make a bit of difference in what God thinks about it.

The death penalty is important, as the government is in place to render vengeance for God ( Romans 13). Those who are against it are against God. When God regulated the death penalty it was by stoning according to the Law of Moses. us will suffer. Only after 20 years that we have way and forget the self-righteousness, then we will see ......
What the bible says is not relevant in legal matters. However, I'm infuriated at the arguments that the death penalty is gods will. For your information, and this actually is fact, the bible was written by a man, interpreted by a man, and it's been retranslated and edited many times to cater to the current ruler in the last few hundred years. Even if it was originally the word of god it's most certainly not now.
I'm not sure I'd even read it for entertainment purposes. The story is full of holes and contradicts itself multiple times. It caters to anyone if they read into it correctly.
Given that I was religious at a younger age I have read the thing. If you were such a good Christian you would know that to be taken to heaven you have to accept jesus Christ as your savior. No gray area, you believe in the man and youre in. I also happened on scripture that states explicitly that all sins are the same in the eyes of god. That means killing is just as bad as lying. So we should either use the death penalty for all crimes or, if you really believe this let god be the judge in the end.
It's amazing that the ones who claim to preach love and forgiveness can also preach hate and punishment in the same breath. Sometimes I think Christians use god as a way to invade lives and cause more pain and suffering than necessary

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
