We just relocated from San Diego to Platte City and had a annual pass to Legoland in Carlsbad. We are excited to hear the news regarding the proposed Legoland site in Lee's Summit. We would definitely be a regular visitor to if Legoland comes to Lee's Summit - we are praying that it does!

I live in Lee's Summit and if you want a stupid Legoland, put it in Platte City. I just found out about it. Who are they paying off to put that here? Apparently someone in Lees Summit government is trying to get rich quick. Who needs it, we are already having too much growth for what our roads can handle now.

Lee's Summit residents we need to be at city council on Thursday at 6:15 PM May 10th, we need huge numbers. Whether you speak or not, please come. Legoland in Lees Summit means the total destruction of our area, tax increases (they want us to pay for 82% of the park), traffic, crime and more. Please be there for you family, your home and our neighborhood.

Nogoland is getting hammered here in Lee's Summit. I guess RED and Merlin will have to build it in Virgina after all.

Haha.

If I'm going to pay more taxes, it's going to be for education for our children. If our representative vote for this, we should all be examining their priorities and family values and voting them out of office.

Lego land would be a huge boost to the economy in this area, the mall in a whole will bring jobs, and the theme park would bring the people. More people equals more money for roads and schools. Plus we will get a world reknowned attraction.

More jobs for who...high school kids. We don't need more jobs that pay little money we need jobs that pay and able to make a living off of. Lee's Summit is growing fast and why bring in something that going to bring more people, and more problems. I would rather see our money go towards are school and speical needs programs. Our taxes are high and we dont them any high. I say no to Legoland, it might be fun but Lee's Summit is NOT the place for it. I am 23 years old and have a 3 year old so yes it would be fun for us to go to and spend time as a family but I have lived here my whole life and the changes I have seen are ok but again we don't need a change that big here. I will say it again NO TO LEGOLAND!!!!

Umm...seriously, what are these people thinking? Why would they even TRY to put a theme park so close to Worlds of Fun? And the timing is so off, since we are rumored to get our next big coaster in '09 which is when they want to open Legoland. I think the aquarium thing that is supposed to come with Legoland could be nice, but NOT another theme park. It's going to be bad for both businesses. Maybe i'm a little biased since i'm a college student who's worked at Worlds of Fun for a while. But there is no way that Merlin Entertainment can compete with a Cedar Fair park. And to Eric who posted above that we would have a world renowed attraction...I work in the theme park industry and I have NEVER heard of Legoland. And like we REALLY NEED yet ANOTHER mall/shopping area! Put it in another state that doesn't already have THREE major theme parks!

Worlds of Fun stinks. Overpriced run down rides. Every 3-4 years you may get a new ride that doesn't work 30% of the time. If World's of Fun is what Cedar Fair Parks can provide then Merlin Entertainment should have no problem competing. Never heard of Legoland? I went to Cedar Fair Parks website and I could honestly say I had only ever heard one other besides WOF and they run 19 parks.

I truly understand everyone's concern for what could be perceived as another misappropriated tax venture. Yet I can't help but see more positive possibilities from this than negative. Employment for high school kids means less kids on the streets with idol minds looking for something to do, possibly criminal! The revenue generated by visitors will be funnelled back into Lee's Summit that can be spent on educational improvements, roads and much more. I travel the country and must say that our city as well as the KC metro area is behind and lacking, not just in entertainment but overall quality of life. That is evident once you cross the state line into Johnson and Wyndotte county. The Legends was met with great opposition from the public and now has improved that area beyond imagination. We cannot afford to keep the one horse town mentality. Regardless of how it happens, you cannot stop progress. Lee's Summit will continue to grow and expand. Roads will be crowded as more move to our area. Our taxes will inevitably increase to support this growth one way or the other. Why not have assistance by having visitors absorb some of that burden in a Legoland theme park. Wyndotte county makes huge profits off of the Legends which consists primarily of Nascar fans who travel from around the country. And besides, it's not like LegoLand foot and street traffic will be year round considering midwest weather.

SOOOOOO glad it isn't coming to OLATHE! The city council can't manage what we have now. We have Bob Montgomery (a realtor -coincidence, right?) sitting on the council to promote everything his developer buddies throw at the city. Chicago and Kansas City don't have the market on corrupt government, Olathe can compete with the worst of them.

We don't want the stupid theme park in Lee's Summit either. The mayor in Lee's Summit is an idiot though...wish she could be impeached!

Hey Eric in Omaha, I say put Legoland there, you can have the stupid park. Lee's Summit doesn't have the infrastructure for a theme park. If I wanted to live by a theme park I would move to Florida or California.

Our family has been to both Worlds of Fun and Legoland in California. While we had fun at both parks, we are DESPERATELY wanting to go back to Legoland CA. It's a much cleaner, classier park for younger children and families. I do think the KC area could support both, because WOF targets older kids more, Legoland the under 12 crowd.

Olathe, I think you would be better off with a LEGOLAND as opposed to having continued housing development and shopping malls as we do here in Northern Virginia. Because of the developers our taxes are outrageous, our traffic is at or near gridlock, it is ridiculous!! The prices of homes here are beyond the average person, public service employees, etc. At least with an amusement park the traffic exists during the hours of operation. Yes, I have seen an upswing of traffic in the Olathe area, but not as bad as here in N. Viginia. Having a LEGOLAND would bring in more jobs and more revenue for your area. Plus, it would give the children something to do and keep them off the streets and out of trouble.

I'm glad olathe lost the legoland, they have run the great mall in the ground, they ran the water slide park (by olathe med center) in the ground, they lost the nascar speedway, their downtown area is run in tne ground and if you read thearticle in mondays kc star theyhave several projects they are building whether jo. co. residents want them or not. if the legoland is not built in olathe it stands a better chance of making it,yes I lived in olathe for sixteen years,so I know what Im talking about.........
