The New SNL Sucks Ass

I dont get how anyone can find SNL funny anymore. It was funny in the 70's, it was ok in the 80's, and in the 90's it just started to fall apart. Chris Farley was the only one who was funny in the early 90's. Adam Sandler and david spade would'nt have been funny at all without him there to make it funny. But now there's nothing funny at all about the show. They only have like 3 or 4 new sketches per episode, and the rest is that dumbass seth meyers with the weeked update that he continues to ruin, and in between all of that is half an hour of comercials. I hope in the next decade they get some respectable and funny comedians and writers because until then, im not going to watch SNL.

This country is producing an entire generation of comics who have that "Laugh at any expense mentality."
I was flipping around on some cable and watched this show called "Bananas" from Canada I think and I was amazed!
None of the comics swore or made fun of people in a harmful way and I laughed until it hurt.
Then I remembered listening to the old Hose Jimenez routines on LPS as a kid and how they are still super funny today. He did not swear or hurt people either.
I am getting older, and as I age I am tired of dirty and hurtful humor and I for one will not support it, nor watch it.
SNL is garbage.

i bet you hate seinfeld and drew carry and any pogram that makes reference to fat people,gay people or any group in a comical manner... ie,an extremist.in fact you strike me as being either a prude christian or an older person who believes comdedy shouldn't be poked at anyone or any group in particular,which means you probably hate(as i said)shows like drew,seinfeld,just shoot me,everybody loves raymond,etc etc..

In general, with few moments excepted, SNL sucks. Sucked last week, last month, last year, and last decade. This "non-primetime" comedy show (and others like it)has become another venue trapped on public airwaves unable to breach lines drawn by the advertising buying corporations that must not offend specifically "The New American". The show is a result of our becoming what we are today. We have earned the safe mediocrity.

Could not agree with you all more. SNL sucks, and so does many of these "comedy" shows on network television. But this post is about SNL.

But can you blame it for sucking? In one way you can, because a show is judged based on its individual episodes, not on the whole. It only takes one episode to sour someone's experience with a show. There is no excuse for crappy episode. But, on the other, you cannot blame it for sucking. People are becoming stupider and proving to lack intelligent thought. If you do not believe me, please look at the high school dropout rate. People do not know how to criticize. They rely on crappy advertisement promising, "funny episode". The network pays off magazines to publish these superlatives in their magazines. People eat this up and see the unfunny show and laugh at the show; not because its funny, but because its expected of them. Wake up people! SNL is no different. If you want true opinion read a journal or NPR. That is where true opinion is, because it is less likely these folks will sell out like the media pandering whores at nationally known periodicals.

I will admit, SNL used to funny. I watched it every Saturday night as a kid, but now I do not watch it at all. As I mentioned, it is crap. The cast is for the most talentless, and are obviously hired because they are good looking and will likely appeal to the 22 year old demographic. The show thus has placed more emphasis on style over substance and this sad. These actors, if they deserve to be call actors, are paid 100K+ and take advantage of this by being habitually unfunny.

Lorne Michaels needs to fix this by firing most of the cast and going to the days of cowbell, roxbury, and Wayne's World. It will be hard, but the kids and adults who grew to love this show only to hate it deserve better.

Even the worst SNL skits from the late 80-early 90s are better than the mindless drivel they are putting out today.

SNL take note- if you want to be funny, watch a little Daily Show.

I am watching SNL now and I want to slit my wrists. Please kill me.

the cast is no talent I wish the jay leno was on and anti american god 2 min in to the show and i don't even whant the sound on
