Michael Richards' Racist Tirade

Im not a big Richards fan anyway, but wow.

The heckler was completely innocent and simply expressing his culture.

Jeepers, that what you get for calling a spade a spade. But look at who is calling the kettle black. It sure would be mighty White of folks to lighten up on him.

Listen, no better yet, read some of the lyrics included in the ganster rap music ( if you can call it that) fad of the 90's.
Stand on any street corner in Brooklyn. Listen to some of the stand up comedy by some black men like Mr. Christopher Rock.
In my opinion, the use of such language by ANYONE demonstrates ignorance, poor taste, and lack of self control. And OUR response Should Be, that is SHOULD BE, is to NOT purchase event tickets, albums or Cd's of individuals whom promote such language or behavior. AND MOVE ON>

With America being over 70% white, Black Comedians would have NEVER gotten on stage IN ANGER and berated the white race for slavery or anything else.

Everything they say is in fun and many whites in the audience LAUGH.

I should have known that on a Texas Site that I would hear a lot of racist, insensitive comments. What is it about Texas??

Anyway, Michael Richards has hired a Crises Management expert. Many in the Entertainment business has said his career is pretty much OVER. For a comedian of all people to spew Racist stateements is really bad.

I agree. Free Speech is Free Speech and it should always be protected. However, I can not go to my job and start screaming out slavery and racist whites or I would be "out of there".

The same goes for Michael Richards. He is entitled to state his opinions, but people and companies are also entitled to stop giving him contracts or to stop associating with him because of his "racist views".

Many in the Entertainment Industry have stated he has commited CAREER SUICIDE. He has even hired a crises Management expert.

He is a comedian. Comedians get heckled ALL THE TIME. He handled it in the wrong way by calling out N!gger. I have seen a transcript of all that was said and one white person yelled out to him that he was a loser when he started his racist tirade.

He had no comment for that person. His career is all but over and good for him. Even hispanics were ticked.

No, Texas isn't that racist, it's more color blind than anything. We don't care what color you are, we care what you ARE. Do you take care of your children? Are you a Christian? Are you honest? Work hard?

Oh please! Texas is just like every other state in America. You have racist people and non racist people in every state.

It's great that so many apparently white people on here with probably no connection to any communities of color (but some of my best friends are black people!) think that they are justified to talk about a situation that doesn't even really effect or hurt them, except for the few whose vague liberal sensitivies were "shocked" that Michael Richards could "go insane" and say something he "obviously didn't mean."

Furthermore that so many people could speak with so little real knowledge of the tremendous worldwide suffering white people have caused to every other race in the last 1000 years or so.

Its easy for you to smother peoples arguements by sheilding yourself with "don't use the race card" arguements.(WTF is the race card anyway?) What are your arguments and thoughts about racism based on? A feeling you get? Research you have done? People you have talked to? What is it based on? And why do you, if you are not black, and have not been subjected to any real racism, the racism that people of color face every day of thier life, get to decided whether or not this is important, or whether or not this is serious? Move on! It's no big deal!

The mere fact that you can say that shows that you have no real awareness of the situation of people of color on this earth, nor of racism in general.

Racists are not just people with KKK hood over thier heads and boogey men in lynch mobs. Racism was not just a problem during the civil war and only in America and only against blacks.

The fact that you don't openly refer to black people as n*ggers, does not mean that you are not a racist. And when someone does say something such as our friend MR said, they are not going temporarily insane. Those words are based on feelings that are inside him. and those feelings are racist.

People do not go crazy and belittle whole races of people with terrible insults, if that is not something that is already inside of him.

I felt for him during his apology, but the reason it was not a real apology was because he claimed he was crazy and he was sorry for being crazy and doing crazy things.

He needs to say he is racist and he's sorry for being a racist and doing racist things.

Even though you are in the clan you do make some sense. Richards has a problem with blacks and it probably goes back from his childhood. He is racist and nothing more. Peace , love and happiness to all.
