If he's ill he's ill and I wish him well.
However the show was substandard he clearly should not have gone on in the first instance and if it went over an hour it only did so by a few minutes. If you went to see a film at the cinema that you could reasonably expect to last for a couple of hours and it stopped after an hour would you not expect a refund? I would and do. |

I was so looking foward to seeing Meatloaf last night again. After the show I saw in MAy, I thought it would be another awesome night. Half way through the first song I knew something was up. His mike was turned down and he was barely hitting the notes in tune. He even got lost in a few of his old songs that he has been doing for decades.
I agree, the show was not more than an hour and Meatloaf really shouldn't have tried to do it. He said himself this may have been his last concert ever, and to go out like this is just not right. Not after 30 years. I agree with the Fan from Jarrow. It was out of order when people started booing him. He was ill, that much was obvious, so they should have cut the man some slack. I for one feel sorry for anyone that has never seen Meatloaf before this show, because his shows are normally so much better. Now theres nothing left to say but to wish Meatloaf a speedy recovery and all the best in the future. |

I am a big Meatloaf fan and all I can say is that last performance was thoroughly disappointing. Right from the beginNing it was obvious that something was wrong as the vocals were so poor. There was no chance that he performed for a full hour and he looked drunk, he was staggering all over the place and was well out of time with the music.
If he was ill then i apologise, but i still believe that everyone deserves a full refund. When you pay £40 plus for a ticket you dont expect to be disappointed |

there was videos and all sorts flying round on the net and i said to all my friends that he wouldnt last, i was suprised he lasted as long as he did! i kno its not the case for some people but im not really bothered about a refund, at least if what he said was true, we were all their for his last performance. as a musician and singer i can sympathize with the bloke, all the people paid all that money to go see him he must have felt like shit for going off, but, he gave it all he had, despite how bad his voice was, he still give us all he had, and i find comfort in that! hope all is well soon ML x

They're trying to say he had a sore throat. Am I the only one that fails to believe he was ill? I hate to say this because before this show I was a big fan and still believe he's great singer, but to me he looked like he was high as a kite. His eyes were half shut most of the time like he was stoned, he staggered around the stage, he slurred his words, occasionally forgot them, and he was so out of beat. His backing singers and band basically carried him and I couldn't be more disappointed. If he was genuinely ill then I apologise for saying this and wish him a speedy recovery. But, I have a funny feeling that I'm not wrong and it's a sad way to end such a fantastic career. I'm not upset about the money. I'm upset that he did not live up to my expectations

I was also hugely disappointed last night. It was apparent from the outset that there were problems with the performance. I have seen this man in action many times previously, and he has blown me away with his performances. Last night he was simply a shadow of his former self-very sad! He looked very weary when he first came onto the stage. He "lost it" in the vocals, sometimes you could barely hear him, and when you did, he couldn't hit the notes. I think Patti Russo was a huge miss-the new backing vocalists were not nearly as strong as her. The saxophone and acoustic guitar playing were outstanding, as was the lighting and effects. Pearl Aday also provided a great support act to her father. I am shocked at the arena's stance saying that no one will be refunded because Meatloaf performed for over an hour. I think this is desputable because he came onto the stage well after 8.30pm, and we were out of the arena at 9.45pm! All in all I am left feeling quite empty-hope the great man recovers soon and I wish him well.

I've just rang the arena to find out about a refund and they said the promoters are stating a refund will not be offered as the show went on for more than an hour... I disagreed and they said they have it on camera that the show started at 8.44.... what a load of rubbish... perhaps the build up did, but as far as I'm concerned he only half sang about 6 songs! I've never been to a Meatloaf concert before and I loved him, but you would think that someone of his wealth and standing would want to refund fans who in my case paid a days wage to see him! I feel so let down! I empathise with him if he's ill, but then why did he come on at all and manage to play for "just over an hour" so fans couldnt get a refund. I'm foaming!

oh and if you want to request a refund in writing you can write to both the Arena and the Promoters:
Metro Radio Arena Arena Way Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7NA Kennedy Street Promoters 31 Stamford Street Altringham Cheshire WA14 1ES Good luck! Catherine |

I hate to say it, but he appeared intoxicated rather than ill. It was certainly poor judgement to have gone on stage if he was ill. I have not seen Meatlaof before and had high expectations. Our tickets were £51 each, and I think it is appauling that no refunds are to be offered.

Have been a massive fan for 27 years, never seen him live and am hugely disappointed. He was obviously struggling right from the start, I just thought that he was a really bad performer live, however after reading other comments this isnt the case. His fans should definitely be refunded, but I wont hold my breath. Wether he was on for an hour or not what we heard was sub-standard we didnt get what we paid for. I`m still a fan and always will be and I wish him a speedy recovery.

I was at his concert on Sunday at Glasgow SECC and left early due to his poor performance. He gave the appearance of being under the influence and ranted about the Sun newspaper article about his supposed weight gain for what seemed to be an age. Really disappointed with the evening and felt embarrassed for him.

i was at meat loaf concert last time he was in newcastle think it was 20th may 07 and his preformance was unbelivable. I didnt think last night was a patch on his previos preformance and was truly gutted when he stopped singing and it was announced that he was ill (i hope he gets well soon)

From the outset it appeared he was drunk. Missing the intros into songs and generally disorientated.
NO WAY did he perform for more than an hour. Also before starting Paradise by the dashboard light he announced that he hoped the crowd enjoyed it as it may be the last time he ever performed it Live anywhere. For the promotor to claim he never said he would not perform again is an insult to all who were there. |

I was a lucky one to have front seat tickets for the preformance last night, the Man is one of the greatest singers i have ever known, I have been to other meatloaf concerts and could tell from the off something was wrong, I mentioned to my wife that he looks like hes going to collapse after a couple of songs, I hope he gets well soon and know its more than a sore throat....
I would never want my money back (and i paid a lot more than most for the front row seats), meatloaf give his all when he was clearly in pain, If it is his last concert which he said on stage then i salute the man and thank him for many years of pleasure, and hopefuly many more to come. If this turne out to be his last concert then any amount of money i paid to be there was worth it. Just a note to the people who booed him when he left stage....(censored) |

I have just seen on the BBC news the promoter claim that Meat Loaf performed for 1hr and 18 minutes - I wonder what sort of watch he uses! No way was it that long. Apparently exhaustion is the problem....?

Personnally I think that we have a very good claim for a refund, irrespective of how long Meat Loaf was on stage for. I can distinctly remember early on in the performance several thousand members of the audince all chanting in unison 'I want my money back!' Now I accept that some people might suggest that surely this was just the crowd singing along to one of his tracks. However, I would point out that anyone who tried singing along with him last night (and I include his backing singers - although 10 out of 10 for effort girls) wil be able to confirm that this simply was not possible. I rest my case.
Having seen Meat Loaf in his prime twice before I know he was not at his best, but taken as a whole I reckon that the amount of money I have spent on the three performances I have seen is still overall outstanding value for money. However I feel sorry for my friend who only saw last nights performance and was definitely short changed. |

1 Whether or not he was at his best he still decided to try and perform for his fans. Refunds are decided by the promoter not the artist - in effect the artist is working for the promoter and is paid a fee or commission for this. If you have issues re refunds then pursue it with the promoter - he is getting off scot free - no flack and a purseful of your cash while the artist gets it in the neck!! I hope this is not the last we see of Meat he is a brilliant artist I have tickets for Sunday in Manchester and just hope he is feeling better by then and that his fans can show him some support. |

We have tickets to see Meat at NEC Friday - does anyone know if he has recovered? Hope so - really looking forward to seeing him. Would prefer a performance than a refund!!
