Kennedy speaks on "Being Catholic"

Full story: Connecticut Post

Catholicism has long been a cornerstone of Kerry Kennedy's life. Kennedy, daughter of the late senator and U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, came from a devoutly Catholic family, where she was the seventh of 11 children.

Compare and contrast; one of my high school english teachers drilled that into my head.
Compare and contrast: Slave rights and gay rights; the contrasts are easy, the comparisons are profound. Slaves could not get legally married either. They could not create and sign contracts, and what is marriage mostly (legally speaking) but a huge contract with thousands of rights and responsibilities.
Navanethem Pillay, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights spoke there last year saying, "That just like apartheid laws that criminalized sexual relations between different races, laws against homosexuality are increasingly becoming recognized as anachronistic and inconsistent both with international law and with traditional values of dignity, inclusion, and respect for all."
Apartheid: A system of laws applied to one category of citizens in order to isolate them and keep them from having privileges and opportunities given to all others.
Stop gay apartheid.

Kerry Kennedy has wasted her time writing this book! Either you are Catholic or you are not Catholic. You can't have your cake and eat it!

How embarrassing for Ethel!

Catholicism can't be "..central to my sense of values, my sense of justice, my belief system" if you are pro-"choice" and pro-gay "marriage". They are utterly incompatible.

apples and oragnes....let's compare and contrast:....they're both fruits (no "gay joke intended", i assure you).....what else have they in common?....."slaves and homosexuals"?.....REALLY? ....i'd love for an African-American "threadwatcher" to chime in here....sounds like a horrible comparison!....by your logic, can i have 4 wives?....can i marry the family pet?.....if i'm so inclined, wouldn't it be "unfair", under your definition of what's "right and wrong"?....thanks and God bless!

amen!....to the likes of the kennedy's and phil donahue's of the world, are you kidding?....do you people REALLY believe that what you "want" is what you get?....how arrogant of these people!....what, exactly, is shu "getting" from this speaker?.....does the administration agree with ms. kennedy, or disagree?....i'm all for free speech, believe me....i'd LOVE to hear a statement from the shu administration regarding THEIR stand on Catholicism!.....this issue calls for a DISCUSSION, not a one-sided (liberal) speech!...thanks and God bless!

How can the word "devout" be used to describe so-called catholics who go against what the Catholic Church and sacred scripture have declared to be wrong? What's even worse is these people are in the media and are strongly leading others to sin as well. I pray they repent before it's too late.

Kerry Kennedy is presented as a "devout" Catholic...while at the same time being disappointed in the Church (which is of Divine institution) because the Church does not conform to the present generation's approval of abortion, gay marriage etc. Now can anyone imagine standing in front of Christ and telling Him how "disappointed" they are that He does not approve of these things? The Church does not have any authority whatsoever to change her teachings at the whim of her children. If anyone has a problem with the Faith, then there are other alternatives. Seek them out.

SHU seems to be in the business of giving adulterers prominence. Witness Kerry Kennedy who was once married to Andrew Cuomo--Attorney General of New York. The marriage dissolved over her adultry. And let's not forget that SHU named their business school after Jack Welch--another admitted adulterer. C'mon SHU and President Cernera. Stop pretending you represent thinking, committed Catholics.

If Kerry Kennedy is such a great Catholic, then she could have a full time job lecturing her family and uncle Teddy, and staying away from places like SHU.

i think this is the kennedy that was married to andrew cuomo, cheated on him with his best friend and evenually got divorced from cuomo. stating that she is a devout catholic is a bit of a stretch.
