It is sad it is ending due to funding. You would think a show so ingrained, and so cheap to produce could be funded. I bet there is no shortage of funding for the shows with all the rapes and murders. And to think that a govt move caused this really ticks me off. I am tired of the manipulation of the people by our oppressive govt. Tom Jefferson said govt should be afraid of the people, think about that.

This is truly a shame, I grew up with PBS before *everyone* had cable.

And Josh I totally agree. That feeling of fear and paranoia after you turn off the TV at night is exactly what they want you to feel. As long as we are scared then they have us right where they want us.
Shows like reading rainbow show us something that is good and pure. Something as simple as Reading can bring so much to your life.
I don't know about you guys, but I would much rather see a reality show about couples having to read books and solve puzzles in comparison to "Megan wants a Millionaire."

Main stream media is making us DUMB.
DUMB DUMB DUMB.
And its an absolute shame that more shows like those on PBS aren't played on every station. They have some very interesting shows that actually have something to do with your everyday life and environment.

My oldest loves Sponge Bob, and why? Because he can completely tune OUT when he watches it. I never realized this until he started liking sesame street and he would respond and call out letters and numbers to me, something he never does while watching Sponge Bob. So hubby and I decided that our kids would watch mainly PBS and sponge bob only as a treat. But all together I'd say they get about 2 hours of TV a day, I know that seems like a lot but I know some kids that watch TV all day long.

If you ask me.. Tv is the devil lol
As much as I love it.. because I am hooked on entertainment. But I do realize what that is doing to my brain.
I'd like to think that they haven't completely programed me yet.

I think we are all hooked on entertainment. That is the American way. We feel we have the right to be entertained. Personally I like being bored from time to time and just staring off into space for 15-30 minutes. Its actually very relaxing :)

Team, as far as frankfort news, I guess you have to wait for stuff to come out in the Lex paper.

I have an idea I want to run by all the editors.

How about each of us pick a subject and look for stories on it? For instance, I know Robert is interested in tech and space stories. I like crime and political news.

If we all focused on one area, it would balance out the news a bit. What do you think?
do you know

I talked to my son about this very idea two days ago. We are on the same frequency, sir.

I'll take science, technology and health. If that's ok with you folks.

Aww, I really loved that show when I was younger. Granted, my kids didn't get into it much because of Dora, Spongebob, Hannah Montana, and Pokemon. I tried to get them interested in it and they would watch it for a few minutes before changing it. I eventually banned Spongebob from my house. My kids ran around all day doing that laugh and acting like morons. Yes, morons. I didn't tell them that, of course, but I did tell them that they didn't behave appropriately when they watched it. They've been fine with it. I just wish I could've gotten them interested in Reading Rainbow before it was too late. Well, atleast they do both like to read a lot.

I liked Mr. Rogers. I have a funny story about him actually:

2. He made thieves think twice. According to a TV Guide piece on him, Fred Rogers drove a plain old Impala for years. One day, however, the car was stolen from the street near the TV station. When Rogers filed a police report, the story was picked up by every newspaper, radio and media outlet around town.

Amazingly, within 48 hours the car was left in the exact spot where it was taken from, with an apology on the dashboard. It read, "If we'd known it was yours, we never would have taken it."

I also heard that after they found out it was his, they took it to be datailed and washed. And even topped off the gas tank!

I actually had a youth minister one time whose lawnmower was stolen. He found out who it was pretty quickly, he lived in Choatesville, and it wasn't hard to figure out. He told the guy he could have it since he was in need. He told me that was biblical. Wish I could remember the verse now.
I always go by "If your brother compels you to go a mile, go with him for two."
In other words, always give and expect more than you imagine. You would be surprised by the results....

Reading Rainbow was my favorite show when I was little, I watched it all the time. I loved the song and the opening sequence. This breaks my heart, they find money to spend on bringing back the Electric Co.(not as good as the original) but let Reading Rainbow go. I would rather my kids watch this than Caillou, that character is really annoying.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
