I suppose it's a good thing when a critic "sets the bar high," but one has to wonder whether a body of work (Mr. Borak's) that has an overwhelming number of "thumbs down" serves the Eagle's readers well.
PLUS - whether or not related to the above - his "productivity" seems to decline each year, so we're "treated to 3-5 reviews in a summer with 30-40 offerings surely worthy of a review. Eagle Mgt.- even a low-paid "stringer" has a lot to be said for it vis a vis not-so-benign neglect of one of the area's major attractions. For a very different take on Candide - and an excellent alternative to the Eagle when it comes to Theatre in the Berkshires, there's this (in curtainup dot com): http://www.curtainup.com/btf09.html#Candide |

Jeffrey Borak's theater reviews are very much appreciated but where are they? There're no longer in Friday's Eagle and there are very few online. I have long used Mr. Borak's reviews to help decide among the many offerings and I really miss them. I also think they're pretty much right on. Jeffrey, where are you when we need you?
