I first became a fan of Laurence Olivier when at school, I saw his film of Richard 111 on TV. I then heard in the west-end of London his three Shakespeare films were being shown, I went to see them all. I really liked them all but my favourite is Richard 111, Olivier played a wonderful part he really made the part his own I think. from seeing Olivier's performances I became interested in Shakespeare and history, I wrote to Laurence Olivier saying how much I admired his acting he wrote back and sent me two signed photos of himself one of him as Richard 111, and one of him as himself. The photos got lost in a move but I still have the letters glad to say. When he died I was very upset as I felt it was the passing of an era regarding the theatrical profession as Olivier was such a talented actor. who could bring to life so many different characters. To my mind he had everthing good looks, a beautiful speaking voice, and he could act.
