Considering Gerard's dedication to his acting career, I doubt he would commit to a role that he didn't think he could deliver well! Kurt Russel silly and prejudiced comment is based on his mis-guided preconceptions of Gerard 's ability that has no substantial basis. I believe the role of Bridget Jones is 'quintessentially' British, yet it was played by an American and brilliant job done by Rene. Kevin Costner delivered a very American Robin Hood, a role which is also 'quintessentially' English. No one made a fuss about this. I believe Gerard is as wise and proud as he is talented and made the best decision he could, that is to pull out, given the circumstances. There is no reason for him to regret this move as it is not his loss but that of the producers' of this movie.

I always loved Carpenter movies because of their "lack of" type quality. You heavily relied on the built up intensity of the scene as well as the actor's abilities. These days everything is manipulated in post production.

The sequel to this movie was kinda silly at times compared to the original, although many parts were exactly the same as the original. But it was still a really good flick because Russell is one helluva an actor to watch.

Its a stupid idea to throw away the past. DUMBB with two B's.
