Keith Urban has to be one of the most prolific musicians of the last five years ... His schedule of concerts that have taken him from American, Canada, England, Germany, France, New Zealand and Australia and his accompaning cd and dvd releases have been almost simultaneous with a dedication of someone driven by passion and persistance that can only result in physical, emotional and mental punishment ...

If nothing else Keith Urban is a workaholic of the music industry totally absorbed in believing in his musicianship and the need and desire to perform and give back to those who appreciate the gift he loves to share ...

All Keith's fans will be concerned and caring in regard to any hurdle he has to endure, and his music aside, Keith's biggest blessing is his support base of family and friends who must come first and foremost in any future decisions that may need to be made ...

Judging from the two sympathetic Australian comments about Keith Urban, Australians seem to be more like Americans in this regard.

My heart goes out to Keith and Nicole. As someone that has lived through the addiction scene via my daughter. It's a battle...every minute, hour, and day. Faith in God and family is the way to go. Good luck Keith...be strong and don't let this addiction destroy who you are.

Now, to my first point....if you don't like Keith Urban, then go to someone else's board. This is after all a Keith Urban board.
Now, to my second point....you apparently don't know alot about addiction, by your assuming that addicts never recover. Having known many addicts in my life (and before you judge, the only thing I am addicted to is coffee), I do know that they recover. They are never non-addicts, but that doesn't mean they are active addicts. And yes, sometimes they do fall off the wagon. It's refreshing to hear from someone like Urban who's willing to admit his problem publicly than someone who tries to defend it like George Michael ("pot keeps me sane"). Nice to know Urban isn't perfect....makes him like the rest of us.
Now to my third point.....if all you can muster is the nerve to come on this board and insult someone as literate and intelligent as Colleen Thrupp, then like I said, you must be very angry. Issues, man, major issues! I for one, know that Colleen is a very fair-minded person, honest and one of the more pleasant people on this board. It's one thing to insult Keith Urban, as he is a public figure, but if you're so low yourself that you can only be big by insulting Colleen, then as her friend, I will defend her every time. And from past expierience, I know Colleen is one of the nicest people on this board, and I by God won't let anyone dump on her like that!

It is funny really, you would have had to read the posts she made defending his imaginary problem. It took him FOUR months from their wedding date to screw up. You didn't hear about the woman he was screwing around with in Nashville in the Mirror, either. LOL You are all clueless.

It doesn't surprise me that you have friends or family that are addicts. All you druggies stick together. LOL

Tom Cruise will cut the children off from Nichol because of Keith and his little problems. You just wait and see.

Well, I TOLD YOU SO..not only is he an addict to drugs, but also to sex. I guess there are two more sex stories getting ready to be released as well. Previosly when he had a drug problem he stated it was due to lack of fame for all his hard work and not making it big..what is it now? He has fame. For a man who says he is with the woman of his dreams and on the eve of releasing a new CD, the proof is in the pudding, HE IS NOT HAPPY WITH NICOLE KIDMAN AND NEVER WILL BE SATISFIED WITH JUST HER! He has stated previously that he has a hard time with committment. He can't do it. He loved Niki Taylor, but cheated her away. She had to seek treatment of her own for addiction to pain pills. The were actually a great couple. Nicole looks like a complete fool staying with him after just four months and you can plainly see the man is so miserable that he has turned to drugs or alcohol to numb the pain. He has already cheated on her while they were dating. You wait..the next bomb is just getting ready to be dropped. GOOD DAY MATE!

Look, my point in all this is that I don't know the man, I don't live anywhere near him, and I don't know from first-hand knowledge about his addiction(s). I'm just like all of you, I only know what I read and choose to believe in the papers and on the news outlets on the Net. I don't buy into gossip and I don't take lightly to personal attacks on my friends. Call be a biddy if you want, but at least I will stand up for what I believe.
And by the way, I also don't resort to name-calling.

And, I Told You So, I also try to get my facts straight....Urban was addicted NOT to heroin, but to cocaine. He finally went into rehab after a night of free-basing.....I don't recall that you can free-base heroin.....

I will continue on that line if you don't mind and if they trip up, I will pick them up ... They have all done that for me ... More then once, more then twice, because I just know they believe in and need me too ...

it all depends on the addictive substance as to how hard it is to move away from it altogether...

i was told by a cocaine user that once one is addicted to that [also crack, ecstacy and meth-amphetamine] is that the response area in the brain is adjacent to the limbic region which is associated with memory - therefore all memories attached to the time of taking these [particular] drugs will act as a 'trigger'- which is why with ecstacy for instance, rave/house etc will immediately jolt a craving for the chemical associated with it and is thus harder to quit and FORGET - esp. meth amphetamine and free-basing. The drug authorities say that when you take one of these once, there's 'no way back'- tho I think there is a better success rate with just cocaine - tho I know so many people from my hey-day in the glam world of advertising who just never get over fancying some cocaine - ever. I thank god I never got lured into that - i was always wary of chemicals.

so, one would have to move away from the 'triggers' which is hard if you are a musician and playing the very music that is making you crave ... tough one ... which is what i pointed out at the time as being the challenge for the two of them - esp when i said it was a 'co-dependent' affair...[just an honest assessment and not 'hate-speech' as some viewed it then]. it will depend on whether the co-dependency becomes imbalanced as to whether these two will make it ....not an easy road at all - and seemingly unfair to happen to someone who brings SO MUCH joy to so many .......... life's cruel, huh?
