George Dumbya Bush sadly, Never Looked Presidential. No amount of editing, air brushing, make-up, spin, lies or rightwing bloviating could ever change that. Only a handful of people so are so obvious in their incompetence that absolutely no one ever pretended they were anythingbut, and George Dumbya Bush was clearly such a man. When the toll from The Great Bush Depression is all in, he'll certainly end up ranking Dead Last among America's 44 Presidents. And anyone attempting to malign Katie Couric only needs to recall her Sarah Palin interview, which must've been as painful for poor Katie Couric as it was for the rest of us to watch. Never was an interviewer trying harder to pitch softballs than Katie did to the Alaska Nimrod, who managed to bunt every question 'Foul'. If only they could have 'air brushed' Palin's brain, so it looked as if it actually worked occasionally.

Um, its actually quite simple. The Today show makes ton of money (significant portion of NBC's overall profits) and the reason is because viewers tune in due to personal affinity for these mainly teleprompter-reading personalities. However, without "talent", the show's ratings plummets, profits dive, etc. Just look at the lame personalities on the CBS Morning Show (Julie chen? Only has a job because she's married to the top CBS executive) and their sad ratings. Hence, little profit, lower salaried personalities, and an inferior show. Once Katie's next contract is up, the fact she doesn't improve ratings will be valued in, and she'll be paid less or let go. Its the free market. The CEO pay problem is tied to inept corporate boards and sound-asleep shareholders. SOme CEO's are worth exorbitant salaries, most were just set up that way. Titan wrote: Can they do anything to make her smarter? We hear all the time about CEO's making too much money. An avg CEO is responsible for running a company which employes hundres/thousands of people. They get paid well for what they do. Katie Couric and Matt Lauer get paid many millions a year to read from a teleprompter. They don't manage a company, aren't responsible for peoples jobs. Are on the air for a minimal amoutn of time. Yet they have the AUDACITY to question these CEO's in person and during news segments for the amount of money they earn--which is often the same or less than what Matt and Katie earn. Next time they interview someone about their salary, I wish they would throw it back in their faces. Hipocrites!

How can anyone state that Katie Couric's interview was bad for Sarah Palin if NOBODY is watching the CBS Evening News ?

Then of course he went to Iraq to steall all the oil. Where the hell did he put all the oil and how exactly did he manage to transport it all?

And for this, Matt and people like him get paid $10 -$15 million a year? For reading off of a telepromter and a few interviews? Come on now- those salaries are ridiculous for what they do. CBS makes even less money! I never said the CEO payscale was a "problem". They earn a salary for what they do. Do some of them make mistakes? yes. But they are working in companies, often times with multi-billion dollar revenues and get paid for it. Shareholders vote in the board, who in turn approves salaries. That is how it works. You can not tell me in good faith Matt Lauer is worth $13.5 million a year for what he does.
