I hate to see Katie do a talk show. I think she would get bored with it. I guess something like Larry King but not like Ellen or Oparh. I wish she could go back to the Today Show..Well, Katie good luck with whatever you decide.

CBS may have a chance to close the gap. They could actually hire a respected NEWS person. But probably not. Just another talking head to continue to spew slanted and made up news.

I've always felt sorry for Katie. I watch her every evening, because I like CBS news overall, regardless of who is on the anchor desk. Her arrival at CBS was over-hyped, and when things didn't pan out the way everyone expected, she was heavily criticized. Didn't CBS realize that you can't take a reporter from a piece of fluff like the Today Show and expect her to seem credible on the evening news? Besides, who cares who is on the anchor desk when your show is obviously geared for the age 50+ crowd. If you don't believe me, just look at the ads they run (medications for high cholesterol, erectile dysfunction, etc.). It's a wonder old-timers like me can even stay awake long enough to watch the whole show! Ha!

What a complete and utter failure. Had she not been female, they would have canned her long ago.

All of the major networks have need to change. Every one of them continue to muddle along with people like Couric, Diane Sawyer, Brian Williams and Harry Smith would not be any improvement. Why not hire some new, younger reporters and give some new blood a chance. All of the above are boring and tiresome to listen to and look at! I don't understand why the networks keep these people around year after year after year! How about some, energetic and dynamic new faces for a change! It's like Barbra Walters, damm, she should have been in a rest home years ago!:-)

I hope she's leaving to look for her lost humbleness. Don't let your ego or the door get in your way of leaving. DWTS needs ya.

They aren't on the national news because they don't have the talent or the experience. You sound like a lot of Gen Xers who think everything should come to them RIGHT NOW without the effort and dedication to really succeed.

When I was a kid, CBS used to show a news program for little kids on Saturday morning between cartoons called "In The News", I think. As I grew older, the similarities between "In The News" and the regular 6:30 evening news shows became more apparent until today I can't see any difference whatsoever. If I had a drink for every inspirational news story about a one-legged Hiroshima survivor teaching ghtetto kids how to play the xylophone, I'd be even more of a drunk than I am now. In other words, WHO CARES?

There was super-hype when she came! Her attempts did not live up to the hype! To be paid such a high salary, and not be able to pronounce "ing" drives me to distraction! It is not pronounced "een." But we have our own incorrect pronouncer as in Chris Bradley. I think networks and local station should try to find someone who speaks the English language correctly (without regional, ethnic, or lisps.) Each time I hear an interview of a member of THE Ohio State "Fut Bawl Teen talk bout win da gane." A supposed representative of "our" "Institution of Higher Learning" Speaking on behalf of said Instution. Attending THE Univeristy on a "sports" scholarship, frankly, I turn off the TV, and turn on National Public Radio! Oh I almost forgot "Someguan who espeaks gwit ahn asent gwich someguan cud cut gwit a knife," in an effort to attract the Hispanic viewer. I am not a racist, nor am I xenophobic. I speak 7 languages fluently, I firmly believe the news, local, or national, is the place for one example of correctly spoken American!

Once again, the self-aggrandizing CBS views the appointment of a new anchor for the CBS Evening News like Catholics at Vatican City view the appointment of a new Pope or Ohio State fans await the announcement of a new football coach. The folks at CBS are the only ones that care about which lying liberal flake they decide to pay $16 million a year to spew their agenda-driven propaganda. Liberals take care of their own, and so CBS will find someplace to put the tired arrogant hag Couric, so they can prop her up once again.

TV news no longer actually has any real news in it. Just sensational crap and fluff. I stopped watching it years ago.

Is it news or entertainment? In the UK they just have "news readers". After all, the anchors are not journalists they simply read other reporters stories. Segments that show an anchor "on the scene" are nothing more than staged appearances to boost ratings a la Geraldo. Obviously, nobody cares.
