<quoted text>My vote for largest man-made environmental disaster in American history goes to the Dust Bowl. In the 1930s over-farming in the Great Plains (combined with what should have been tolerable drought conditions) destroyed millions of acres of farmland, killed countless livestock and other animals, and rendered 500,000 people homeless. Ultimately, over 2.5 million people were displaced and the US economy was devastated. It's difficult to see how the present oil spill can compare.
I can see your point, but this isn't over yet is it? The effects to the economy will linger for years and are yet to be realized. The effects to the environment are catastrophic and long term. And the dispersants that BP is using is just hiding the problem and making the water more toxic, not helping anything. Again, this is still going on as we speak.

Good to see some balanced perspectives being restored to this very unfortunate series of events instead of vilifying a convenient scapegoat. BP is as much a US company as it is International (not purely "British" as some would have us believe) and this all hapened under the watch of the US government. Here's hoping that all parties can colaborate (not finger point) and bring the situation under control as soon as possible.
Really? How much of their record profits are BRITISH PETROLEUM sharing with the United States? I haven't gotten my profit sharing check yet. I doubt they even pay any taxes to the U.S., their biggest customer. Blow your smoke another direction please.

would really love to see an in depth investigative report from the Daily Breeze about the author, how much money he has, or will receive from any oil company for this yellow journalism. But don't hold your breath.

I suggest you live up to your name, Sr. Peligro. Go down to help the others in the cleanup and just be sure you use no personal protection equipment. Maybe the chemical contact can clean up your thinking.

CONGRATULATIONS ON TELLING THE TRUTH. The Media reports only the information that will sell papers or make the general public want to listen to their one-sided story. The media today does not report the story they report what they think the public wants to hear. It is refreshing to read a story that let's us know that while every thing is not rosey it is a lot better than the one-sided story the media reports. Gone are the days of honest reporting. Gone are the reporters who report the whole story. BP keep up the good work.

Uh, WRONG!

Unless you retire from Refineries in your mid-twenties! Oh, wait a minute, maybe there was a MICK that worked at BP. The author is actually MIKE. Sorry that I thought you were a total idiot and posted a lie as a comment at first. My bad.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Scorpio

You're in the mood to spend money on a favourite hobby or pastime today, so take care if you're supposed to making every penny count at the moment. The temptation to treat yourself to something that you'll undoubtedly enjoy will be too strong to resist, and the trouble is that you might not restrict yourself to just one item either. It looks like being an extravagant day!
