Er, Pam...I would hope that you would at least make the attempt to be consistent in your observations and criticisms on this topic. You leave a lot unsaid, so that
point must be made.

It may have been me, but I don't think I've seen similar defense pieces written by you when others in other areas of politics get lambasted and treated "unfairly" in much the same way...SPARE ME!

I hate to break it to you, but Hillary Clinton does NOT have a ticket to ride in this arena. Right, wrong, or indifferent, when you toss your chapeau (garter?) into the ring, you agree to take on all comers. You do not get a pass simply because you want it both ways or think that others should have it that way.

I toss out the hypothetical. Would you defend with as much earnest someone like Condoleeza Rice? Surprise me. but do not lie.

Pam,

Reprint your piece on the topic of "Petreaus or Betray us"...

That's not just niggling little schoolboy chatter. That is the type of work from the masters of the personal attack, while always trying to cry foul when it happens to them, the far left...even their own ilk were caught having to apologize with their pants down. Maybe this is when Larry Craig saw his opportunity to go "wide" and make a "wide stance" play...???

they are are pandering to special groups to get elected.. except Joe Biden

they all sling mud, lie, deceive and talk about hot button topics like gays and abortion, but ignore the ones that will end the USA... such as debt, Blackwater, global wrming, etc... except Biden.

I am at the point that I feel the Republic is in danger because some people use their sex to complain about playing the hardball game. The b---- in question blamed Monica on a right-wing conspiracy, she refuses to release her records with a cackle, she changes baseball teacubs to mets to yankees faster than a seven year old, she changes her mind twice in two minutes on licenses for ILLEGAL INVADERS, she changes her vote (unofficially) on the war depending on the crowd, she refuses to talk about what she thinks of the women that were sexually molested by her husband, she cannot explain how she made $100,000 in the stockmarket with only putting up $1,000. Should I go on or will you be HONEST in your columns and blog? Also she is NOT the first woman to run for President- You look it up. She is not strong enough to be a senator for which she has done nothing for her state or her country. I am e republican but I prefer Mr Obama or McCain and if neither makes it, A write in for COLBERT!!!

Staber, Snowman, et al...

Sometimes it can be hard to make a point in 800 words or less, especially one that is not black and white, so I'll add some thoughts...

The column is not about Hillary, it is about what I believe her candidacy reveals regarding the amount of hidden sexism in this country. She is merely the window through which we are getting to see inside our collective national soul.

If the front-runner female candidate were Condi Rice, the rhetoric might be toned down a bit, but I maintain it would still exist and for no other reason than a woman is attempting to become President of the United States.

Hillary is a very divisive figure, and someone that I cannot support, but that is not what this is all about. There are no vile characterizations or sexually explicit material about any of the male candidates floating around on the web. No male candidates has been publicly called a name or spoken about in personally derogatory terms.

This discussion is not about Hillary is about the underlying "wink, wink, nod, nod" attitude in our culture that gives tacit approval to treating a woman candidate differently than a man. I find that very troubling.

The fact is that Hillary Clinton is the most divicive canidate for president since Richard Nixon.

Hillary pronounces her position on various issues, but unlike the other canidates who are in the arena, hides behind the fact that she is a woman when she is criticized for the positions she states.

In other words, she is using the fact she is a woman to deflect criticisim. She isn't being treated any differently, but she believes she is above criticism.

And with her Secret Service escort there is no way you can ask her questions or get near to her to ask a question, I know as before I called a President a draft dodger and harrasment reigned supreme. She con veniently does not remember or she forgets, she has no idea how paperwork from the Rose law firm were found in the family quarters of the Whitehouse, she still has no answer for the fact that she had told the people of New York she would serve her term and how can she(or any of these candidates) do anything for her constituency and resolve any of their problems. Obviously, no one in politics really gives a sh-- and I think their salaries should be withheld. Further, why will she not go on FOX NEWS? She wont answer that question and what about the money from HSU(?) and the money her brother made with the President issuing pardons. Also, why would she have a person who stole items from the national archives on her staff(mr berger)?
