What a sad waste of money that could of gone to research and education on this health issue. I see this as greed by the surviving family members. They already recieved over 14 million plus what ever life insurance they may of had and I am sure they will be getting residual income from the royalties of his work. It's a shame they couldn't of been more like the Reeves family and take a tragity and do somthing positive with it.

Good verdict. These people were sue happy. People die and it's not always the doctors fault. People do not live forever despite advances in medical sciences. I guess the family had to blame somebody.

Thank goodness. This trial was a travesty--a giant waste of time, money, and other resourses. The intended purpose of this suit was to make wealthy people (the Ritters and their attorneys) even richer. They couldn't be happy with 14 million dollars!!!! Their greed is shameless. We ALL pay for frivolous lawsuits like this with higher healthcare costs and higher insurance fees.

Anybody ever see Mystery Diagnosis? Doctors nowaday SUCK! They dismiss patients with real problems and tell them it's all in their head - they make constant mistakes - I knew John & Amy and the Doctors need a real WAKE UP CALL!!!
I don't care how much money they have - Doctors need to get their sh*t together! |

GREAT!! I agree .. It was a shameful display of greed on the part of the family. The money wasted on this pointless exercise could have helped numerous people who really are in need. I celebrate the decision on the jury and I only wish that the state could recoup the money wasted on this trial from Amy & the Ritter family. Now, go to the sidelines and spend the millions you already have!

There isn no amount of money that is going to bring her husband back! Ruining the lives of doctors that did everything they could under the circumstances, since Mr. Ritter had not done the recquired medical followup would not have been right. It does seem rather greedy (though there is no monetary value on a human life), after already receiving so much for settlements, etc.... please! Mrs. Ritter just needs to STOP all of this and get on with her life.

I survived an aortic dissection (from the arch to the bifurcation), after the Dr. at the ER saw the X-Ray, and
sent me to a Med Center with a Cardiac Surgeon. My Ascending Aorta was replaced with a gel-weave tube. These Dr.'s made the right decisions to save my life. JohnO Brookings, OR olmsteader@yahoo.com |

It breaks my heart that John Ritter is no longer with us, but I think the jurors came to the right decision.

BTW ... sorry for the double positng ... The first attempt gave me an error message!
But still ... Way to go, JURORS!! |

its a good decision, time counts when you are having a heart attack unless you want to end up like a vegetable. If ( probably when) I have a heart attack I would much prefer the doctor acts quickly to treat me for the heart attack rather than investigating rare conditions that could also be possible.

They did NOT do everything they could and sasly that seems to be the rule with Doctors - and not the exception - like I sad They need a wake up call - if they did all they could they shouldn't be Doctors -
John O was one of the Lucky ones - congrats John O - I am glad you got the help you needed - most do not. |

Yeah I went to doctors for chest pains and they said it was nothing - later it showed up that I had a heart attack - and survived without any intervention. If I had an aortic aneurysm I would not have

Just because he was advised two years ealier should not make a mis diagnosis ok.

The problem is that people like Lebovitz run this country....Lawyers.....adversa rial human refuse of the least desirable order. Does the name John Edwards ring a bell ???
How about Richard Nixon, or on a more contempory note, Lawyer Spitzer of New York. The plea is clear....less lawyers in Congress and the Senate today - even fewer tomorrow ! We are all fed up with the scam. |

I was advised a year earlier, after tests showed
some arterial blockage (not aortic). I changed my diet, exercised, lost 65lbs. It happened anyway -high blood pressure is the reason. I do feel lucky. It is sad that people feel 'lucky' when they encounter competent Dr.'s. Thank You Angie, and the best of luck and health to you. |

These are very unfortunate events. Thoracic aorta aneyurisms are hard to diagnose, and often mimmick a heart attack- so much so that clot busters are sometimes given. Exactly the wrong thing to do when bleeding.. which didn't happen in this situation. Medicine isn't exact science. Everyone does the best they can do.

I'm glad to see so many people agree with this verdict - so do I. Hopefully this family can move on with their lives now, and the doctors can too. What a waste of resources to use for such a ridiculous trial! The sad fact is that people die every day and it's not necessarily anyone's fault.

I'm glad that the jury did the right thing here. I like John Ritter a lot, and it is sad that he died, but it sounds to me like the doctors did what they thought was best. They didn't neglect him, they tried to treat him! BTW: Doctors aren't "wizards" or "gods" they are people, just like you and me, who have been through medical school. The patient has a stake in their own health too! Suing the doctor doesn't solve the problem...
