I don't think it is a question of the money.. as a matter of fact, I heard that the money was to be used to start a new foundation in his name, but I know if it was my family member that this happened to, I would want something done to see that something like this doesn't happen again.. So personally, I don't blame them for suing...

Bee Vee says " I dont think it is a question of money"...

ITS ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY.

Yes, it is unfortunate that this man passed away and yes this kind of incident does need to be looked into but to offer a statement that it is not about the money... Well, Come On!

She did not use the 12 million she got from the hospital to "set up a awarenes of torn aortas".

Where will the 67 million come from ?

The doctors limits on insurance policy is 1 millon each.

They will declare bankrupcy.

At least she did not get the money. If a doctor tells you to see a specialist you should go and if you don't it's your fault. It is not a doctors responsibility to make sure you go. That's why health care is so crappy here, every one wants to sue some one. No one takes responsibility for themselves any more, it's always they other guys fault.

I agree, if you are told to see a specialist for a possible life-threatening illness, thats what you do. I have worked in the healthcare industry for many years, and it still amazes me when people are very sick but continue to do the very thing that causes brings them harm. The same goes for people who will ask a pulmonary doctor about a heart condition and expect the doctor to know, NOT!!! This is why they call them cardiologist!!!! A pulmonary will not treat a patient with heart condition, period. I feel bad for his wife and kids, but there is really not much else that can be done. Its unfortunate what happened to John Ritter, and may be rest in peace. People when the doctors says see a specialist, thats what it means, otherwise you are on your own...

Wouldn't you want to see some justice if that was your husband/father/son?? Can you really say an amount of money is too much for ones life? I think not.

I don't think any amount of money is too much or too little...I think a father or mother's life is PRICELESS to a child. That being said, if the Dr. did something wrong, he should pay. I think it shows the Dr. did not do wrong in this situation. Insurance is important...Doctors are human and make mistakes...after all, you know in a graduating class of 500 students, do you know what they call the person who came in in the 500'th or last place?.........They call him DOCTOR!!! Insurance is very very important!
