Let's ponder Robert Goren's replacement on 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent'

Full story: The Detroit News

For eight impressive seasons, actor Vincent D'Onofrio has captivated and sometimes annoyed viewers as know-it-all detective Robert Goren on the NBC/USA drama 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent.' A spinoff of the original 'Law & Order,' the series has given D'Onofrio the platform to saunter around and confront murder and robbery suspects with a wild ...

I apologise.Goldblum actually does not nauseate me....I don't like his acting but anyone doing there job should not be nauseating. I'm just totally enthralled with VDO; his acting just surpasses anyones and I will miss him. No, I will not watch Goldblum but I'm sure he has many fans who will.

I think D'Onofrios's character Bobby Goren is one of the best on tv. I won't be watching the show without him

Once Vincent D'onofrio leaves CI,I won't bother with the new episodes.Without Goren, it will be so different a series, that I cannot bear the thought of watching it. Vincent as Goren is CI; without him, and with Goldblum, it will just be yet another light, amusing(???),annoying bit of boring crime 'drama', like Monk. I hope that Vincent soon finds a fitting new show for his great talent.

Why are we recieving info regarding other actors on VDO's blog????? Our interest is VDO'S Professional Career....since VDO is no longer on CI (except for the final 2-part ending his CI relationship), why should we care about what happens next with new CI cast members?

While we ALL know that Vincent will be terribly missed and that NO ONE will be able to replace him on LOCI, let's keep in mind that the decision to leave must have been(at least in part) his own decision. Being as riveting and fascinating in ALL ways imaginable, he may have wanted to do other things with all of his talent. We can all get behind that, can't we? So I, for one, will be waiting to see what he does next. Just as long as I can watch him, I'll be happy.

Vincent's been doing other things. While on LOCI he's been in several movies. Over the summer he said that he would stay with LOCI as long as they and the fans wanted him. I believe him. And I blame NBC/USA for either making the decision or forcing him to make the decision to leave even over the complaints of fans. That makes me mad. Spotters saw him looking unhappy at a filming location. That makes me even madder. The new cast has to know what's happening and they're still going on with the show. THAT makes me even madder. I wish Vincent the best in whatever he does next. I will be watching for him. I can't say anything good for NBC/USA and I won't be watching them.

I appreciate what you're saying, Bobbie, but by all the accounts I've read, he really WANTS to branch out more. The decision to leave was ultimately his. And the good thing is that he CAN. THAT is how talented he is. No, the show will definitely not be the same without him (or Eames, for that matter) and I probably won't watch it much (if at all) without them, but 8-9 years is a LONG time to have the taxing schedule of the same character. And yes, he's done movies etc. in between, but maybe he'd like to focus ALL of his energies on just that for awhile. Remember, think of how much of himself, his time, his creativity and his energy he put into Robert Goren. That can take alot out of anyone. But he did it effortlessly (or he's so good he just made it seem that way). He just wants to branch out more. Maybe spend more time with his family. Now, he'll have more time to focus on other things. I don't think the new cast "doesn't care". I think they are respecting Vincent's wishes in the long run. I'm also certain that if he had wanted to stay in the role of Det. Goren, NO ONE would have asked him to leave. Please let me know where I can see this clip or photo you mention of this filming location where spotters saw him looking unhappy. Could it be that he had other things on his mind? A bad day, perhaps? It happens. He's not leaving us forever. We'll find him, won't we, in whatever venue he chooses to pursue? Blessings, my friend. Be well. Di

Why are you being so hard on the guy? Clearly he has a drug problem. You should show some compassion.

I am positive he never once drove drunk. He's not the at kind of addict.

If I ever started watching this show, you bet I'd submit myself for drug testing. Compassion from dopey fans of 'Law and Order'? right.

You might also feel overwhelmed by duties and obligations, particularly if they're connected with your job or with neighborhood activities. Perhaps you need to delegate?
