Paul Newman was someone who was truly worthy of admiration. This is very sad, though he did have a good long life.

My whole family is big Paul Newman fans. My mom who passed away in 1991 loved Paul the most because as she always said, when other women fantisized about being with movie stars, I don't have to because I have a Paul Newman look alike. My dad is 81 and really does look like Paul Newman. But I bet you my mom greeted Paul as he walked through those pearly gates. He was a great actor, always did good for other people, through his many charities.

He was a great man-a humanitarian that always gave back to others. Not to mention a fantastic actor. He was a great performer-although he SHOULD have received his oscar for "The Hustler".He and Jackie Gleason were phenomenal in that one.Its my all time favorite Newman film.

Our sincere condolences to Mr. Newman's family and friends. May his food company and camps continue to live on and flourish. Although he was certainly an accomplished and fine actor, I will most remember him for his compassion and selflessness in helping those in need. His time on earth was well-spent. Tonight, to honor him, my family and I will use Newman's spaghetti sauce and salad dressing at dinner and toast him with a bowl of Newman's popcorn!

My wife & I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Newman about 10 years ago at his Volvo dealership in Milford. He was extremely friendly to everyone that day and if he saw someone was bashful about coming over to speak with him he would walk right up to them, say hello and just start gabbing. Rest in peace sir.

Though I never met him, I idolized him. This is a great loss to our world...I actually burst in to tears on reading of his death. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Paul was one who LIVED his faith and spirituality by giving back the riches and blessings he so deservedly had received. God bless him and his family. Talk about family values--here is a truly progressive person who LIVED his faith, and gave to millions of us! Not only did he give us fantastic entertainment; but also, he was a selfless philanthropic giver to the downtrodden and suffering. I think he rests in God's arms in heaven this very moment. Peace.

Perhaps if everyone made a donation this week, to the Hole in the Wall Gang in Mr. Newman's honor, it would be a fitting way to show respect and appreciation for the man who quietly performed extraordinary acts of kindness with his baby-blue winks. They broke the mold for this remarkable actor. Thank you for entertaining me for so many years!

Before you call him a "special neighbor" remember in 1972 he called the City of Bridgeport the "armpit of New England." I was 12 at the time and living in Bpt and will not forget it. The point is, be careful what you say, because whenever he came to mind, whenever I seen one of his films, the "armpit" quote always came to mind first.
