Maybe some day republicans and democrats will be able to have discussions and productive dialog. It does seem like both presidential candidates are both moving toward the middle but the people seem to be moving further apart.

How many folks died mining coal last year, and how many died in nuclear accidents?

Isn't the Japanese power grid powered completely by nuclear power? If the Japanese are willing to use nuclear then I am fine with it too.

Calvert Cliffs expansion is hazardous to the health of Marylanders, Northern Virginians, and DC residents. Reactors emit toxic and radioactive materials into our air and the Chesapeake Bay. Here's something the Bay organizations will not tell you: The oyster population died out due to radionuclides. Radiation from Calvert Cliffs contributes to the Bay's dead zones. There are only 3 counties with a higher cancer rate than Calvert County - which should not be, as there is no industry to speak of...
The 2 current reactors will be around for 59 years - far past the number of years they were designed to safely operate. Experts say that it is a matter of time before one of the 103 US reactors experiences a significant accident. If it occurs at Calvert Cliffs, no employee will be around to tend to the proposed new-double EXPERIMENTAL reactor. That's right - the European Pressurized Reactor has never operated anywhere in the world before! I resent being used as a guinea pig for international nuclear giant AREVA based on nothing more than an unproven, un-tested IDEA! This nuke expansion is a very bad idea as far as the health and safety of Marylanders is concerned.

Yes, John, this is indeed one of the more corrupt states. I have been a resident here since 1980, but between nuking us on the Chesapeake Bay at both Calvert Cliffs and at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, with Depleted Uranium? I can simply no longer stay in a place where government officials sit in the lap of the feds running this nation into the ground. I research, write, and speak publicly about the hazards of radiation on public health. Prior to 2005, I had no idea that the US is the most "nuked" nation in the world! I urge everyone to please look at the facts at www.radiation.org . Thank you kindly to those of you fighting this onslaught of radiation upon Marylanders' air, water, and soil.

I think John is on the board of Constellation energy and Transit Rider has his head in his seat while he's seated. Nuclear energy is SO clean HUH?? What about the spent rods?? What do you do with those that stay fatal to all life for IONS? Oh Just bury them in Utah with the rest of them? Wind and Solar are the only ways to go. If birds are dumb enough to fly into a blade that is turning at less than 5RPM and is as long as jet then they destined for extinction anyway. If people complain about the noise they make, then they obviously have never been anywhere that is populated because road traffic is louder than a wind farm. As far a mistakes made by others, there are far more successes. Look at the giant wind farm under construction in the Baltic sea. Look at the horizontal turbines that are already powering entire buildings and city blocks! This article is yet another reason I CAN'T WAIT to get the hell out of Maryland. This is the most corrupt local and state government in the US territories. And we just made #4 in the nation for highest tax burden...GREAT JOB O'Malley Voters THANKS!!

Why is it humor when you say it, and not humor when paraphrased? I actually did appreciated your attempt at humor, I meant my response to be an attempt at showing appreciation of your creativity. I would not dignify a post without either data or humor with a response.
I apologize, I am so use to scorn and tempers in here ,that I mistook you statement as a softened attack. I guess I should take my own reply, and lighten up alittle also.

There is no evidence to support that.

Deleted uranium is less radioactive than natural uranium.

What a lie! Now if you HAD enough cheap energy (available from nuclear energy, if you'd actually LET IT!), you could have treated the raw sewage dumped in the bay that actually killed the oysters.

Cathy, your concerns are misplaced.
I am a retired biology professor. My background includes radiation biology and formal study into the biological effects of radiation. I did visit the site which you suggested www.radiation.org . Many of those listed as authorities on radiation do not pass mustard with mainline science. Credable science has found them to be guilty of scare tactics and misinformation. You are just too vulnerable to the guile of these shady fearmonger. Please relax there is no onslaught of radiation upon Marylanders' air, water, and soil.

I would have done the same and it seems that since election politics has come to be scorn and tempers is mostly all there is. One has to look for humor even perverse humor involving Mary Jo.

It’s clear that the change has to be done, we have to do something with the energy source issue, because humans always are going to interfere with the environment, but there’s very important to find the way of cause the least damage and pollution that we can to the atmosphere.

So, since 2005, you have been harboring a false idea. There is nothing impressive or worthwhile about that.

Do you have such an idea now? If you now have such an idea, does it have any relationship to reality? Have you ever heard of the Techa River, Kerala Province in India or Ramsar Iran? Do you know that the s seven US states with the higest state radiation exposure are among the ten states with the lowest age-adjusted cancer rates?

Perhaps that is why she is a "hit and run" poster.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aquarius

The emotional atmosphere is quite potent under this Lunar Eclipse, evoking a sense of crisis. The problems you've been experiencing with a certain person lately come to a head during the next fortnight, making you feel that you have to take drastic action or lay down the law. Yet this could make the situation worse than ever, especially if you act from a sense of panic or desperation. Take things gently and don't throw your weight around unless it's absolutely necessary.
