Jerry Seinfeld accused of defamation by cookbook author

So how did the 7-year-old hear the comments made on Letterman? Was she up, or was someone playing a recorded episode with her around? Letterman is on late at night for a reason. He's not airing Sesame Street skits.

More importantly, where's the defamation? He made a joke about people with three names. Did he mention her specifically? It was generalized joke, not aimed at anyone specific. Does this mean I can sue every comic who makes a joke about men, or Italians, or Catholics? If so, I'll be rolling in dough soon.

This woman (as well as anyone else who would bring about such a mindless suit) needs to be smacked upside the head for wasting the court's time, and should be held financially responsible for all time and legal fees incurred as a result of this.

I just hope that if the case does make it to a trial, that Seinfeld doesn't just back down and pay her. That's what most of these bullshit suits are about anyway: hush money. Pay me to go away. This is a prime example of such a suit, andit needs to be stopped now.

Seriously? The mother is suing because her daughter... who is 7 asked what an assassin was? I am pretty sure at 7 I knew what an assassin was.

I am hot and cold about Seinfeld at times, but was a big fan of his show. From the looks of it, this mother is just trying to get some money, and publicity.

Lapine says she "never felt so frightened and vulnerable" is this because she is possibly too stupid to correctly answer her daughters question?
