I personally like Conan, and Kimmel is ok sometimes as well! But FALLON? God damn...that guy is HORRIBLE! His monologue is worse than chevy chase when he had that show. Fallon needs to go. As for Leno-some things on the show just arent working. The 10 at 10 segment with stars on satellite-asking dumb questions is horrid. I say give him time-who knows. The guy is a hard worker. At the moment-all I can say good about Jays show is that it is on with no competition. |
||||
Maybe I was a little harsh with Conan. I do like him and the Tonight Show is okay is with him, but he does occasionally have bad shows. I just thought NBC should have kept him at his old show and let Jay stay with The Tonight Show. I won't apologize for my comments on Fallon, though. That show absolutely sucks and he is awful. The Roots band was not a good choice, either. They should have chose a more mainstream band like the Max Weinberg Band (now The Tonight Show Band). Also, why was the band placed so close to the stage? They're almost center-stage. Couldn't they have been placed where the Max Weinberg band used to be when Conan was doing the show? Perhaps, Leno's show will make it if they tweak the show a bit. I couldn't agree with you more about the ten @ ten segment. That part of the show should be discontinued. Otherwise, I see it contributing to show's demise. |

Try the NBC.com website. I think YouTube removed the video because of copyright restrictions. |

i loved J on the tonight show. I thought i would like the new 10 PM time. I can't get used to it. I did watch 2 or 3 shows. It's not what it used to be. If Conans ratings are low, would they be able to get rid of him & put J back? There must be contracts to stick with. I never liked Conan or Dave. I found myself watching Dave L more after Cone head took over.

I completely agree! Lenos show will probably continue because he is such a mainstay. I hope he improves the segments. And honestly-something about the interview taking place on 2 easy chairs-sure its different but it looks awkward. who knows-maybe they will bring it back. I hate to say it because I used to be a letterman fan-but lately Conan is by far the better show. As for fallon? CANCEL THIS WASTE! I watched him stumbling and fumbling over interviews with Dennis Quaid -on the same night his monologue was HORRIBLE--- And that brings me to why I think the roots band is so close. When he was failing he was looking to them for assistance. You could see it. I think it is supposed to be a safety blanket for him. He doesnt have a co-host. Either way-CANCEL FALLON-he is NOT any good and is actually getting worse if that is possible. |

Jay definitely needs to revamp the show. Making the guests do some embarrassing monkey trick to show their movie clip is eventually going to drive the A list stars away. Think about it "Robert Deniro-we know you have a new movie out but we need to you act like a drunk monkey in this pool of mud in order to show your clip"...
Just the thought of not knowing what he will ask you to do is going to drive certain celebs away. Its not working-I agree with other posters. Jay needs to revamp this thing as he goes or it will be off in 3 months. |

The show has its moments, but, overall, it's a bore to watch. I think Jay has lost some of his edge from The Tonight Show, probably because his content has to be sanitized for the ten o'clock hour versus the 11:30 hour. Another reason could be is that Jay still hasn't completely recovered from being replaced by Conan O'Brien on The Tonight Show. I have to agree with some of the other posts as well: Jay's show will be off the air by the end of this year if it doesn't get revamped. You can start by getting rid of the "Ten @ Ten" segment. It's so lame and it's an absolute waste of airtime. NBC should bring back the couch and desk for Jay and have him do the show in the old format like he did when was on The Tonight Show. Also, the "Headline" segment should be put back towards the beginning of the show rather than having it at the end of the show. I know what the producers are thinking: keep the better part of the show at the end so that people will continue to watch. Well, it doesn't necessarily work; especially in this age of DVRs and the Internet. On another note, "The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon" absolutely sucks and should either be completely revamped, including replacing the host and band, or it should simply be canceled. It's a horrible show...absolutely horrible.

I couldnt agree with your comments more! If Leno and Fallon were on with their current shows against Conan-they would be gone. It is merely their time slots that give them an advantage. Jay may be able to pull it off with ALOT of changes as you said. 10 @ 10 is horrible. Making the stars to stupid crap to show their movie clip is going to keep top stars off the show. These people are millionaires and Jay wants them to be his monkey-its failing horrible. Fallon? God-what a waste of airspace. He isnt confident-he isnt funny-his writers are HORRIBLE-its almost as bad as the worst show ever which is that stupid chelsea lately. That or last call with carson daly. How in the HELL did he ever get a show? I wish the networks would begin to look at their programming. Alot of times I am up late and its horrible trying to fumble through these crappy shows. |

Are people actually still watching this show? Seriously. Just what about Jay Leno grabs your attention? The questions he asks are read directly off cards.
The 10 @ 10 segment is not working. None of them have been any good. And Mel Gibson was crazier than Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch. Gibson was staring with those crazyman eyes and his jokes were not funny at all. Also, did Gibson say he would change his brain to get rid of his antisemitism? His father’s a blatant anti-semite (there’s an infamous interview out there with him) and we all know what his son has done. The Leno Show is a train wreck. I watched the entire first week and there was not one funny thing on here. Not one. I won’t be back. I have no issue with Leno, but his show sucks. |

Check out this link from the Philadelphia Inquirer. The review pans Leno's new show:

I didnt see the Mel Gibson episode-was it more of the star being uncomfortable in that stupid chair setting? Why not just put 2 lawn chairs out their-I mean it looks bad. The vibe is bad-jay is on his way out.
PS-read the inquirer pan-they were right on the money. The 10 @ 10 we can all agree-completely retarded. Its as if Jay wants to make stars look foolish-which I have no problems with and agree-but its at the expense of jay looking foolish. I just dont get what he is thinking. |

After seeing the season premiere of SNL with Megan Fox, I may owe Jay an apology for the criticism of his show. Maybe even Jimmy Fallon...not!
|
||||
Megan Fox-BRRREEEEEEOOOWWWW!!!!!! You know-she looks like she could be a mean selfish girl with a diva attitude (she has every right). I saw her on Conan and thought she was pretty damned down to earth-which made her even more beautiful. I missed the SNL with Megan-what was it like? |
||||
I believe you can see the entire show on NBC.com . Just check around the website for the link. Be forewarned, the show was a disaster. Although Megan is a hottie, she was not a good host. However, she can't be blamed entirely for the show being bad. The writing sucked and the cast sucked. I laughed maybe two or three times during the show and that was during "Weekend Update". U2 was pretty good, but other than that, the show was a train wreck. I think SNL's time has come and gone. There were a few good shows last season, but most of the shows were either borderline in humor, or they completely sucked. SNL either needs to be completely revamped, including firing the writers and cast, or NBC should just cancel the show once the current season ends. One thing for sure: Lorne Michaels has got to go. He's the one that's ultimately responsible for the show, and he has made a lot of bad decisions in hiring humorless writers and firing cast members who were actually funny. Isn't he also the executive producer "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"? Hmmm. Go figure. BTW, have you noticed that Jay is no longer doing those "Ten @ Ten" segments every night? I've pretty much stopped watching the show, but I still look at show's opening from time to time to see who his guest's will be. |
||||
I will check out the SNL (mainly just to see Megan Foxx). As far as SNL-it is alot like the Jimmy fallon show-and I bet you are right about lorne michaels being involved in both. They both have the same lameness factor. I think lorne michaels ego has been around since the first SNL. If SNL and jimmy fallon are examples of his "genius" then fire him quick! I have always thought (and heard) that his dictator-like control is damaging to the truly funny/creative people on the show. And lets face it-the only way that show worked was with the likes of Dan Akroyd, and John Belushi. It is the talent that makes the show. I have a feeling that somewhere along the line lorne michaels believed it was him that made THEM funny...WRONG! As for Jays 10 @ 10 thing-I havent watched every night myself-but I have noticed that it wasnt there. Such a stupid skit. I have also noticed that instead of making the stars sing or dance to "earn their plug"...that now it is the stars reading along with Jay-thus keeping Jay involved as if he is so funny noone could do anything without him. Still a very stupid segment. Look at early Johnny Carson-etc. He and the stars were truly having fun and goofing off. They werent all uptight like Jay is. They improvised and basically had their own little party on screen. Jay needs to freeform or set up gags that make it fun for the audience AND the guests. right now it isnt that great. |

Now there is a rumor that the Jay Leno Show is not doing as well as NBC expected or were hoping, and that it's actually hurting NBC's other prime-time shows in the ratings. I hate to admit this, but I heard this from "The View" on ABC. Has anyone else heard about this rumor?
P.S. I tuned-in on Jay's opening on Monday, Oct. 12th, and Jay did a "Ten @ Ten" segment with Justin Timberlake. I thought Leno and NBC learned that this segment wasn't working? Isn't it part of the reason why Leno's show is failing? |
