Glad to see him go, it does not seem to matter to anybody that Colin was let go for a reason. No doubt his show had very low ratings while Jim's ratings were much higher. Yea, makes perfect sense to keep a loser nobody wants to listen to, except for the handful that post here, or expand a show with great ratings. When will all you liberals look in the mirror and face the fact that nobody wants to hear you on talk radio? If liberal talk radio was so popular than Air America would not be bankrupt and Colin would still be on the air...

Ah, they say love is blind, and it must be true. Not a word from the "mourners" about McEnroe's arrogance, self-infatuation, or his mean-spirited treatment of callers who disagreed with him.

But, my goodness, how long is this cyber wake going to go on? I was an early fan of McEnroe, but turned away as his personality evolved into the Don Rickles caricature I described above.

Colin did himself in.

I have just the job for Colin. He can provide commentary on Channel 61 news.

That way he would appear in front of their eyes and won't hurt the feeble nut wingers feelings.

Incidentally, I'm enjoying my new found time away from WTIC programming.

To: Peter W. Whitham, Woodstock Your letter is brilliant ! Extremely well written and very insightful...

As I read through the various postings I am stunned at all of the absolute hatred and deep seated anger displayed by many posters.

I find that rather scary. How can people function and be so vicious ?

In the free market of ideas, liberalism is a bankrupt belief.

Mr. McEnroe's saga is just the latest chapter of this story.

Democrats, as a group, fear conservative talk radio as they know it is the one area of media that is not controlled by liberals. Listeners have a passion for Rush, Sean, the Great One, et al. and that these people shine a light on the issues that the drive-bys (Democrats) ignore.

Consider how talk radio motivated voters last summer to block the illegal immigration amnesty bill. That type of influence scares the heck out of Democrats and is the reason why the Democrats want to bring back the 'Fairness Doctrine'.

Bring back the Fairness Doctrine and kiss goodbye to AM radio and more jobs lost in addition to Mr. McEnroe's.

These firing are based on ratings, if your listenership is low that equates to low advertisement revenue and low advertisement revenue equate to low profits. Radio is a business and they need to make money. If you want to hear low rated - government funded – non-profit making- liberal radio host, you just need to turn to an NPR station. Liberals stations have always had a huge problem with ratings, just look at Air America. The DNC had to start and fund them because their advertisement revenue could not sustain them. Look at the major newspapers who have become totally bias and distorted, their readership has fallen and many newspaper companies are having to downsize. People tend to look for optimism not pessimism when they listen to the radio or read a newspaper. Liberals for the last eight years have be total pessimists and surrounded themselves in negativity; who wants to hear hour upon hour of that? Maybe the State can start their own radio station for those disenfranchised listeners. We could join Russia, North Korea, Cuba and Iran in having State run radio and the taxpayer can fund it; oh, I forgot when already have NPR.

WTIC did the right thing, Colin is a buffoon and Diane is, well, Diane, she wasn't bad at times but she was quite slanted to the left which complemented Ray the jerk. Change the entire lineup, get rid of Muttering Stuttering Vicevich and Rush, go back to the old WTIC.

Pride goeth before the fall, and the arrogant Colin is learning this now. At least we won't have to listen to the whining sissy Bill Curry on air anymore.

The reason conservative radio gets the ratings is because it is attack radio. Just as John McCain's campaign was attack attack attack. Liberal radio hasn't worked because they talk about the issues in an intelligent way. Not exciting enough for the ditto-heads.
And we saw how the presidential election worked out. And the mess eight years of Bush left us in. It's never the Republicans fault, even when they have the White House.
The voters spoke. Deal with it.

Al,
I am not surprised at your lack of knowledge of how our government runs.
You probably received a below standed liberal education from a public school system. You need to read the Constitution is full and see the responsibility of each branch of government. Then you need to read the House and Senate rules on committees. After that go back over the last eight years and read the Committee hearings that Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and Charles Rangel sat on. By doing this you will better understand the situation and what was involved in creating these problems. Further, the Federal reserve played a major part is this crisis and Alan Greenspan was clueless. Before you blame President Bush who has very little influence on our economy, you need to educate yourself with the facts. do not be just another ignorant American. Further, your liberal cohorts voted for the war with Iraq and they all touted that Saddam was very dangerous and needed to be removed. Clinton did not have the guts to remove Saddam and the liberals probably thought that Bush would follow Clinton's inaction.

Al,you are just a liberal bush-hating whiner that would love to see the Conservatives first Admendment rights violated.

You offer what the PEOPLE want to hear. That's what sells and makes the owners MONEY. This is the Sociliast Soviet Union. If Colin is so FU**** great why doesn't he buy a station and put himself on the air. He SUCKS thats why. NO ONE WAS LISTENING. Maybe the HC needs to wake up and change before Zell puts IT out of its misery as well

His firing had nothing to do with being a liberal. WTIC needs to make money to survive. Obviously his salary did not match his ratings, and the decision was made to can him. Now, normally I would feel sorry for anyone who loses a job. But Colin has a Yale education and he should be able to find a job somewhere that will pay his rent. He always found some reason to remind his listeners of that fact, over and over and over again. And then he has that stable job at the Courant (cough, cough!). He is merely underemployed, not unemployed.

Maybe it's time that liberal talk radio get a taxpayer funded bailout?

Oh, I forgot, that's what NPR is.
