The Wabasha St. Green Stairs counts as a "bridge", too. We're getting stimulus funds to replace it because it's "shovel-ready". That's the whole reason for the "stimulus" thing.

Doesn't this kind of contradict the Obama admin's claim that the "stimulus" package wasn't intended to kick in for two years? Seems to me you could anything "shovel ready" in two years.
They need to get their stories straight.

So in other words, after we will have spent over $700 billion of taxpayers' money, money that our grandkids will still be paying back, we'll still have over 1,000 bridges in Minnesota that will need to be replaced.

Tens of thousands of unsafe or decaying bridges carrying 100 million drivers a day must wait for repairs because states are spending stimulus money on spans that are already in good shape or on easier projects like repaving roads, an Associated Press analysis shows.
