Howard's decline is due to his becoming a far left boorish liberal Hollywood/Hamptons celebrity with his horsefaced trophy wife. The show now consists mainly of arguments between his emotionally disturbed employees. Howard Stern used to berate Johnny Carson for working only 4 days and taking excessive vacations. Guess who does that now?

this is such a smear article. the article gets it's info from a terrestrial radio magazine, who's target audience are still bitter over the approval of the merger. their format is dying, satelite/ipod/internet radio and downloading are the formats of the future leaving standard radio and the record industry in the dust. the celebrity interviews were always the least interesting parts of the show, which when on terrestrial radio, was bogged down with 22 minutes of commercials an hour and ridiculous fcc censorship. who wants to hear from a bunch of celebs who are just there for the plugs, you can get that type of butt kissing on leno/letterman. i enjoy the show alot more now, because it is played at multiple times of the day, and i can catch it on either way of my commute, or on the internet.

Stern's act has been old for years. The only people that get anything out of it are one's that find teenage potty humor funny or people that tune in to be outraged.

Who even listens to him anymore? On broadcast radio, he was on early morning, and you could listen to him in the car or before leaving work. And you could listen at work on a portable radio. With satellite, no one knows for sure how big his audience is.And you can't just listen to his show anywhere as before. He sold out his audience for the money. His old act as the bad boy of radio is gone. He's an old man with a huge fortune now.

This guy just did the same 4 or 5 jokes over and over again. Outrageous for a while, funny for a bit after that, tired ever since.

Thought he was bigger than radio...thought his programming was so great that his fans would all pay $100+ a year for Sirius to hear him. Shock jocks are easily replaced. Just go find a foul mouthed moron that likes to offend people and plug him into Sterns old radio spot. Good thing he fleeced Sirius with his original deal.

I would not pay a dime to hear anyone on the radio, nevermind $4.00 per month, becasue Howard Stern is a greedy SOB. I hope it was worth it to Stern, to loose millions of listeners over controlling his launage on the radio. I hate to say this but NO ONE is gonna pay to listen to Hulk Hogan, or any other people you mentioned . Howard did not show loyalty to us the listeners , instead money was more importent.. So be it he is living in comfort and can retire early, and the rest of us will tune into "IMUS" dripping with scarcausim.

No one has the extra cash on a monthly basis to pay for these stations, especially when it's the same old show with a man who is older than dirt and out of tough for today's listeners. The only people listening to him are sexual deviants, and stoners from the 60's - 70's & 80's.

You're right without Howard morning radio is an armpit. I just don't listen at all any longer. 99% of radio sucks and 100% is crap.

Howard Stern the shock jock who panders to crotch grabbing humor. I really don't want to hear about how intelligent or absorbing he is. He is just a very, very crude person with access to a public microphone. I'm quite sure Charles Manson, would be considered his entertainment superior. What's terribly distrubing about him and his loyal audience is the fact that he is the bloody car wreak, and his listeners are the curious gauckers who must tune in to the sick depravity of it all.

The guy is a tastless clown who spews auditory pornography. I would never pay to hear him. You couldn't pay me to listen to his crap. He's a psudo-intellectual jerk-off. He should take his dirty millions, buy a ton of crack and go fly out of this world to where he belongs. I promise you, no one will miss him

Stern hasn't been worth a shite since the early 90s. Once he began proclaiming himself as "King of All Media," he lost a lot of his fans and his show really tanked. His ego got as big as his nose and it shows. Hey- that rhymed.

Stern is over, if he comes back to regular radio a fraction of his former fans will still listen. Sirius has to be kicking themselves for dumping that load of money on him.

Reading all these comments makes one realize how little people really now about anything. First, for those that claim he only appeals to lower tiers of society probably do not know he has a better education than they do and his largest demographic is educated and not poor. Second, local radio is dead, he knows it and anyone listening to their local channels know it. XM and Sirius are a feature on almost every new car sold in America and it is only a matter of short time before the vast majority of people have them.

This article is definitely written to bring down Satellite Radio and potential customers. The fact is there is no truth to the number of Stern listeners on satellite radio because there are no rating reports. I made the move to satellite radio for Howard and found that satellite radio is awesome. He was signed to bring customers such as myself over and draw more attention to the future of radio. After having satellite radio, I would never go back to terrestrial. Satellite radio is growing at a rapid pace and eventually will be the future. It's funny how we dont see articles of how much money was spent to prevent the merger(millions), instead an article to try and defame The Howard Stern Show and satellite radio. If people had a choice between free satellite radio and terrestrial radio, they would choose satellite radio. The cost is the hiccup. Terrestrial radio is dead.
