Perry/Rubio?

Full story: Free Republic

Just tossing that out there as a possible ticket for 2012. Personally I think it is a winning combo and definitely keeps Obama from winning Florida.

This is the exactly ticket that is being discussed in the smoking headquarters of the Republicans. The other possibility is Romney and West.

Politics seems to gave successfully reduced America to the lowest common denominator in ellecting officials that govern them.

Here, this thread oromotes Perry and Rubio for the Oval office when neither has a resume to support this ascent to higher office.

Obama has been utterly worthless but make no mistake about how he got elected. It was all thanks largely to Team Bush and Bush's own announcement of the financial fiasco in 2008 and the $700 billion TARP request with only 60 days to go before the election. This, and Bush's lackluster do-nothing agenda in his lame duck term, all played a part in singlehandedly destroying his own party's chance of maintaining the Oval office.

Perry merely became governor of Texas in 2001 as Bush vacated the governor's to move to the White House. Perry used to be a Democrat but many are not even aware of this. Perry is also an opportunist who is more self-serving than he is a governor. Texans know of Perry's ilk. They know the true statistics of this state. Truth be told, Texans would just love to get rid of the bastard once and for all. Even if it meant that he moved to Washington.

Marco Rubio has been a sentor less than a year. His resume is almost like Obama's. Served in the state house and eventually became speaker. Another career politician and square filler. Another rube saying what followers want to hear so that donations are made and elections are won.

In the end, the election is never decided by Democrats or Republicans. It's decided largely by the independents who are looking at which candudates offers the most freebies. This is why the majority of the electorate is continuously disappointed as they are pounded back and forth like a ping pong ball. It has become an endless joke.

I'm a conservative like many but that doesn't mean that I must surrender to mediocrity or incompetence at any cost.

George Washington had no experience either.

John Adams had less experience than Washington.

I could go on and list more, but the hope of our founders is that a "normal" man could rise to the level of The President without being groomed and educated for it.

No man has previous experience as The Pres.

I am a conservative libertarian, didn't like Bush, don't like Obama.

We both seem to be on the same page. But Perry and Rubio are simply hungry career politicians that want to move further up the ladder. Likewise, they'll say anything to get elected.

West is another idiot who has learned quickly that placating the masses with what they want to hear results in handsome campaign donations.

Since being elected, what have either Rubio, West, or Bachmann accomplished?

Perry has been governor of Texas over 10 years. What has HE accomplished? Keep in mind that under the Texas constitution, the governorship is utterly the most impotent post in state government. It is the Lieutenant Governor who has the political power.

Even when Bush was governor, it was the late Lieutenant Governor Bill Hobby that had the political pull. Not Bush. Bush was merely governor and used it as a stepping stone to get to the White House.

Right. Allthe Republicans are power hungary, but they are better by far then some person who is rumored to have used Cocaine in his past. Put them under enough social pressure, and who knows what could happen. It isn't just Republicans that aren't pure as the driven snow.

I think Perry will run, but he won't pick Rubio for vice President. He will win, because he most clearly represents what the party stands for, smaller government, lower taxes, expanding businesses to create jobs. He also has a military background. And he doesn't run around with a teleprompter.

If we're trying to be really honest, NONE of our leaders are worth a squat. In one firm or another, they are all unaccomplished losers who have found an easy life lying to the masses.

Ever sinceReagan, the DEMS & REPS have simply traded tge Oval Office back and forth every 8 years.

As the pattern will continue, you can look forward to an undeserved second term for Obama and then Jeb Bush will enter the stage in 2016 as prez #45 for another 8 years. Jeb Bush's son, George P Bush is nicknamed 47 among his friends which means he gets to be prez #47 for 8 years in 2032. Of course some yet unnamed frak show Democrat will be prez #46 between 2024 & 2032.

Our lives have already been planned and our futures have been determined.

Too bad you don't live here in Texas. Perry is as phony as a 3 dollar bill. His recent religious revivals are the first I have seen from him in over 12 years back to when he was lieutenant governor.

By the way, Perry may have promoted the economic policies that you see in Texas today, but it was the legislature that made it happen. Perry, like his predecessor Bush, Were the most impotent bureaucrats in the state as the Texas governor's role is deliberately weak under the state constitution.

Glad to know that you're an easy sell as both parties are full of them.

What ever the legislature presented, it was the Governor who signed it into law. If he didn't believe in what they did he could veto it.

This is true but Perry just merely signs the bills. He doesn't shape policy or drive it. Moreover, the legislature can override a veto.

The legislature in Texas is a better representation of the state than the governor. Perry, as governor, seems hell bent on remaining employed as a bureaucrat for life.

Perry will only jump into the presidential race once he passes Romney in the polls and his advisors tell him he is a lock to beat Obama.

Perry is not a risk taker. He will not run for president if he thinks there is a chance of losing. That's why he will wait until the end to decide.

If Perry were to run for president and lose, then it would practically spell doom for him in another re-election opportunity for governor in 2014.

When Bush was president, I used to ask people what the most monumental act or event was by Bush as governor. They couldn't think of anything. For Perry, I would ask the same question. Nothing. And that's just it. The governor in Texas, by the state's constitution, is the most impotent political post in the state. It always has been.

If Perry gets in it, he will win it, then he will be the 45th President of the U S. Democrats have lost the support of independents, and their own base to a large extent. President Obama cannot run on his record, and sweet talk the population. They are too smart these days.

it doesn't matter if o-bomb-a has a record or not.

he could kill his family in the oval office and still get the dim-wit dim-o-crat and black vote.

in those tribes.....having your guy win is more important than anything else....

thats why the democratic party will not allow any democratic opposition to o-bomb-a.

"The former New Mexico governor and extreme presidential long-shot puts on the record what a fair number of Republicans in Washington are saying privately:

For all the speculation about Rick Perry’s presidential potential, Gary Johnson feels certain the campaign would fall flat — if only because America isn’t ready to put another Texas governor in the White House.

“Have you ever heard Rick Perry talk? I thought when I listened to him talk, I thought he was doing a parody of George Bush. And I was looking around to see if anyone else saw the humor in that. And it wasn’t. It was just the way that he talked,” said Johnson, the former New Mexico governor who’s running his own long shot campaign."

What a coincidence that YOU and Jerry are both posting from Elgin, Illinois and happen to be highly supportive of Rick Perry.

Don't get me wrong, I am no supporter of Obama. He is worthless. But instead of blindly following the Republicans and cheering them on, I now have come to the realization that both parties are just worthless.

I'm sure you are wondering how the Republican party could have so many weak candidates. Have you considered the possibility that they are supposed to LOSE in 2012? And you say "What?!"

Both parties have been playing us for at least 30 years which coincides the moment when the conspicuous deficit spending began heavily under Reagan. I have watched worthless president after worthless president get elected and then undeservingly re-elected only to have their lame duck term end with their administration sinking to new lows and inviting the opposing party to easily take over for a full 8 years. Back and forth every 8 years as if they had arranged to simply trade the White House between each party every 8 years. Could it be so easy that our inept electorate would never notice ir bother to care?

By early 2005, I had figured it out. I predicted then that a Democrat would be elected in 2008 and be in office for the full 8 years. I alao said that it would be Hillary and that Team Bush would help the DEM get elected. In the end, I was right that it was a DEM and that Team Bush helped Obama get elected. He did when, with 60 days to go before the election, he announced the financial crisis along with the $700 billion dollar TARP request.

The lone remaining prediction is that Obama will be re-elected in 2012. I still believe it will happen but not because he is worth a squat. No president really ever deserves re-election. In 2016, look for pres #45 Jeb Bush to emerge. He has already said he will consider 2016 but not 2012. I hope you have noticed the deliberately weak Republican field for 2016. Do you think it is a mistake or on purpose?

There's too much money at stake for each party and their lobbyists. It is far easier to conquer and divide. They have it down to a science in scripted public plays that convince the electorate that a real battle is played out each time.

You don't have to agree with what I am saying but if you happen to remember this post in 2016 as Jeb Bush gets the REP nomination as he takes on a very weak Democrat that has no chance of winning, you'll have to wonder, "What if...?"

Black Americans voted for him last time, because as one old lady said, "he will pay my mortgage, and my car payment!" from his stash. Then he didn't do it. He didn't get them jobs, or money for free college. He let them down, andwhile they won't vote Republican, they will just stay home. This time they cannot afford ACORN workers to drag them to the polls. And those Independents? They are gone too for the most part.
