Confederate flag supporters upset by Romney, Thompson

I proudly fly the Confederate Battle flag, as a matter of heritage. Racism has nothing to do with it, any more than it has to do with my support of the 2nd. Amendment.

To coin a phrase, "They can have my flag when they pry it from the cold, dead fingers of my other hand."

Anyone that bows to the racist divisive element of our society such as the NAACP and ACLU are not worthy of the votes of Americans that know and understand our country's history.

The fact that these people claim this flag is their "heritage" is sad to me. It's just because after they got to America their ancestors lost touch with their TRUE heritage. Scottish, Irish, English, etc are real examples of heritage. The flag represents a cause. The cause was not limited to, but included keeping slavery intact. Therefore, the flag is indeed a symbol of racism. Why do you think the KKK and Neo-Nazi's "proudly" fly the flag?

The only flag I fly is the flag of my country, the United States of America. The confederate flag has the same status as the German and Japanese flags. It represents enemies of the good ole USA.

That is incorrect. The flag you refer to was designed inorder for the CSA troops to be able to determine where their lines were. The original CSA flag and the US flag were difficult to distinguish between during the smoke of the battles. In order to maintain order and muster their troops the Battle Flag was designed. The Battle Flag was just that and not a true flag of the CSA government. The following link will help you understand and correct your thinking.

The KKK and Neo-Nazi fly this flag , not as part of anything other than their hatred of anything meaningful to others. They attempt to justify the use of the Battle Flag by claiming Nathan Bedford Forrest as their founder. Forrest who did in the early years of the Klan when their protest were mainly against carpetbaggers and such , support the group. However in 1869, Forrest, disagreeing with its increasingly violent tactics, ordered the Klan to disband. He stated it was "being perverted from its original honorable and patriotic purposes, becoming injurious instead of subservient to the public peace."

The radicals who continued the KKK and as the battle against "occupying northern scalliwags" as they were refered to during Reconstuction, turned their hate toward those blacks who had been "placed" in power in the south. They continued such hatred toward not only blacks but any group they saw as a threat such as Jewish merchants who to them were "northern scalliwaags" even though born in the south and many former veterans of the CSA Army.
The KKK and the Neo-Nazi's are nothing but scum who will attempt to use any means to gain alliance. Thus they attempt to use the CSA Battle Flag. Someday hopefully they will meet their demise along with other hate groups lead by Farrakan,Jackson etal.

Why do news organizations continue to treat this organization as a serious responsible group? The only reason the SCV clings to the Stars and Bars is because it upsets so many people. It has nothing to do with Southern Pride The Civil War's over, boys. You lost. Maybe it's time to deal with it.

The Civil War was NOT about keeping slavery in tact. If you politically correct hacks had any knowledge of real history instead of that shyte you are taught in liberal schools, you would know that the war was about states' rights and whether there would be a huge overpowering federal government that claimed far more power than the states. It was about whether the constitution would remain in tact, or be made a joke, just as it has been.
If you want a lesson in history, look up the Confederate Constitution. It OUTLAWED the international trade in slaves at the beginning of the war.
Lesson number two would be to look up the number of black men who fought for their home southern states against the northern aggression. There were 60,000 black men who fought under that confederate battle flag for the South. Thousands who died for it. Symbol of racism? Why, because uneducated dolts think it is? They could try to make Bugs Bunny a symbol of racism too, and it would have about as much validity

It is true that the Confederate Constitution banned the importation of slaves, but it did not ban slavery. In fact it protected the right to own "Negro slaves", and prohibited any laws that might challenge that right.

will do a little research you will find the stars and stripes represented the KKK. I have a book about Asheville which has a photo of the KKK float in an Asheville Christmas parade in the 1920's and the Stars and stripes was fly flying over it. Every photo I've ever seen of the real Klan never had the Rebel flag but all had the stars and stripes. Todays Klan is about equal to the NAACP or the ACLU,just a bunch of racist nuts. If you don't like my Rebel flag, then you can kiss my Rebel A--.

When are the "Confederates" going to enter reality? Robert E. Lee surrendered on April 9, 1865. You lost. The great army of Abraham Lincoln, Grant and Sherman whooped that a$$. The Stars and Bars represents a humiliated and beat army/government. You might as well fly a flag with a big "L" emblazoned on it. It represents defeat. If the analogy holds true, all Confederate flag owners surely own a Miami Dolphin jersey this year.
