As a manager of an elementary school cafeteria, I take offense to the first paragraph of this article. More research should have been done. The cafeteria's in Horry County ALL follow strict nutritional guidelines. We offer fresh fruit and veggies as a choice daily. We are also required to teach a nutrition class to the children. I will tell you that school lunches have come a long way in the past few years. Most of our items are made from scratch using wheat products. We only offer low fat and reduced sugar condiments and snack items for sale fall under these guidelines as well.

Gracious, what an astute observation! Parents have the power to provide their kids with healthy meals?! What an amazingly fresh concept!

And Americans are chunky and unhealthy? When did this happen!? Get right out of town! Why isn't anyone talking about this? I'm so glad we have hard-hitting journalists covering this sort of late-breaking news who don't belittle the public's knowledge while delivering information.
