To Honor Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach NEW YORK -- Veteran Broadway and film stars Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach will be honored at a special benefit performance titled Lives in the Theatre - Onstage and Off on Monday, June 19, 2006. The event, to raise funds for the Character Studies projects, which include a PBS documentary series about great theatrical characters, and a curriculum program for middle and high school students, will be held at Symphony Space, West 95th Street and Broadway for one night only. The couple have been married for 58 years and are members of the Broadway Hall of Fame. Performers scheduled to appear at the tribute include Cynthia Nixon, James Naughton, Kate Burton, Andrea Martin, Austin Pendleton, Kitty Carlisle Hart, Eric Stoltz, Boyd Gaines, Tovah Feldshuh, Martha Plimpton and Estelle Parsons. Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson represent the real mission of Character Studies, states Tony Vellela, executive producer. They have dedicated their lives and careers to bringing the most significant characters in theatre to life, which is also the goal of our PBS series. And by using characters to teach students a variety of subjects, we extend that mission, helping to create the audiences of the future. Both the series new season, and the curriculum program will be launched this fall. Additional information about Character Studies and the event is available at www.characterstudies.net . Tickets are available from the box office, at symphonyspace.org . |
