I don't think he's the first openly gay artist to have a number one album in the U.S.
What about people like Van Cliburn, Johnny Mathis, Elton John and Freddie Mercury ?

I think with everyone I named, it was an open secret if they weren't offically out. I read today that Jim Parsons came out, but I thought he came out a couple of years ago. If he didn't come out ffically a few years ago then it was an open secret anyways.

He is NOT an 'artist' of any kind. He is only a mediocre pop 'singer.' The closest he will ever get to being an artist is if he draws flies in the summer!

And he came out at considerable risk...not four decades later and after everyone knew anyway like R. Martin.

I think he is very talented. I like that his music sounds a little old school and not all hip-hoppy and rappy.

Well they are talking about albums not songs I believe. Elton John wasn't always openly gay I don't think. I think he said later he was bisexual and then came out as gay but I'm sure he had several number ones before that.
