Bring it back! Something that precious in the city's history should not be in private hands.

Anyone know when the Main Street Renaissance Task Force meets? Is it open to the public? It amazes how little this administration encourages public participation.

Well, when it was in its glory days, it was in private hands. Private hands built it, and private hands will save it. If the Palace can turn a buck, she'll live on.

I have no desire to visit Brazil for Carnival in Rio Janeiro, and I have no reason to spend time or money in downtown Danbury.
Historically, New England will always be located in the northeast. When will the movers and shakers of this city finally figure that out?

Be nice. I'm pretty sure that the Task Force works out of the Planning Commission, whose meetings are easily accessed on the City's web site and they're open to the public. The Task Force itself is composed of people from many different areas, including Planning, Housing, and others, including Common Council members(?), so I'm not sure that it's an official committee creating policy but only making recommendations across department lines. It may not be open to the public, but send Mark and e-mail and ask.

Shouldn't be about the buck. That's my point. There's more at stake.

You think that the motion picture and performance arts industries should be government financed, run, and controlled?

Yikes! There's a LOT at stake, for sure.

Don't get me wrong. I love the Palace. I spent a week there in the control room playing movies and other behind-the-scenes jobs. But the reason she was built was to make a profit for those who worked there. She'll do well if a combination of seed money, tax breaks (yes, I'm in favor of them, surprise, surprise) and downtown strategic planning gives her a jump start... but after that, she's on her own.

Public involvement is the key. Open the process up. Our residents will respond if given a chance.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Pisces

You're blessed with huge dollops of discretion and diplomacy today, which will come in very handy when you have to choose your words carefully with a certain person. At some point you could find yourself on the receiving end of someone's deepest, darkest secrets, in which case you'll have to treat these with respect and promise to keep them to yourself.
