Jurgensen went undercover to investigate a police-impersonating duo dubbed 'Salt and Pepper', who were shaking down NY gays for payoffs, not the floating body parts incidents. Friedkin connected with that NY killing investigation through an actor who had a minor part in "The Exorcist".
