That was so incredibly decent of her....it is such a good thing that we do not have children who go hungry in this country. Good for her....now Oprah will truly love her.

My thoughts exactly. I am all for helping people – everywhere. But we have so many here in the U.S. who do without. Lets take care of our own, too!

Good for her. I hope more celebs follow suit.

I agree that we need to take care of the hunger and poverty in this country as well. I hope charities here are getting their fair share.

Ope is fixacted on H'wood and all its denizens. Drew, former wild child, now seeks redemption by being an Angolina wannabe. Amen.

Why should we give two craps what this spoiled rich girl does? And why does she have to stand in some stupid spotlight aka The Orca Show (yes, orca) to announce her donation? Seems awefully callous to me.

These types of celebrities sicken me. They should be donating more b/c of their stature in society. And notice how Orca isnt as friendly with her "normal" guests as she is when some rich & powerful person gets on the stage. Yuck! Not everyone is a fan of this showboating.

A million dollars feeds alot of people .... once. The true answer to eliminate hunger (both in the U.S. and abroad) is to teach those with limited means how to plant seeds and feed themselves all year long. A million dollars spent for seeds will reap benefit for a lifetime. How about we address the cause of hunger rather than the symptoms.

Blah-blah-blah.... Enough of this "give the man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime" We all know this. Why can't people just be glad the woman plopped down a million bucks that will do a lot of people good. There is always someone who feels compelled to take something good and turn it to crap. Leave it alone.

As long as people in third-world countries reproduce at explosive rates, the 'hunger' problem will never be resolved. They need population control, first and foremost, but no public official or celebrity would dare suggest that since they would look evil. If populations keep increasing like they are, it isn't sustainable, and then we'll have one big 'death event' on our hands.

If she was truly philanphropic we would never know she was doing this. Truly giving people don't want the attention, she is garbage. A million dollars to that family is absolutely nothing and she gets 50% back on the tax write-off. This is a publicity driven move by her marketing team to try to make up for the Adam Sandler mistakes she made. Give me a break...when she donates 50MM then I will take notice and don't announce it to anyone. Bill Gates gives billions!!!! He's a true humatarian. You people are incredibly naive.
why so much negativity

I agree, seems alot of judgmental folks on here are quik to criticize or weigh in. It's her money, she can do what she wants as she pleases. I don't see any of you donating 1 million bucks.
By the way, I assume some people in Kenya can plant seeds, however seeds are worthless in a drought, you have heard of droughts right?

What about making a donation to the needy families right here in the USA? How come no celebrity will come forward & pledge one million dollars & help their fellow Americans?

Oh really? Bill Gates makes the news EVERY time he makes these billions you speak of, so I guess he and Drew are alike in that regard.

Who cares if it's "only" $1MM. At least she is donating, and that $ will help those who have nothing, which is the point.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Virgo

You're feeling restless and need to introduce as much variety into your day as possible. However, you'll want this to be on your own terms, and you certainly won't like it if plans are changed without your consent or you feel you've lost control of the situation. Try to take everything in your stride, otherwise you'll end up feeling exhausted and frazzled.
