I'm sure that anything that has good moral value, and kids love it, will have people screeching in hysteria because it may have 'christian' virtues taught in it, regardless if the books aren't of christian authorship or origin.
OK, start shooting....I'll duck |

Catholic author J.R.R. Tolkien converted C.S. Lewis to Christianity in part by arguing that, since God "wrote" the Gospel in the human hert, all that is true in other stories was fulfilled in the life of Christ. But he didn't think that stories had to be Christian allegories to be "true".
That's why he kept allegory out of The Lord of the Rings, although he did admit to unconsciously adding some symbolism--for instance, he pointed out, the Elve's bread that sustains Frodo and Sam on their journey is a "viaticum", a provision for the journey, and as such symbolizes the Eucharist. C.S. Lewis, in turn, claimed that his "Narnia" stories weren't Christian allegories so much as stories about an alternate universe (as LOTR is), in his case one in which the Word of God appears as a talking lion. So I could see using a Dr. Suess story as an example ("Just as when..."), but claiming to find a hidden message that isn't obvious strikes me as going too far. |

How thinks of this stuff? Who cares if it has a moral value and is not as corrupt as most of the idols of today, WHO Cares!! They were books written to inspire, interest and value reading and in a fun readable way. If religion was to focal point all the better, maybe some on the children’s bible writers could use some lessons because his books were read and reread and read some more. If this brilliant writing could do this "God Bless them." An after all look at the Veggie Tales they are great books for kids and they are read by all faiths as well.

For me, each religion serves some purpose insofar as it is able to illuminate the path toward becoming a better person.
Whether as a result of following Islam, Christianity, Wicca, Bahai, or another path, if an individual is inspired thereby to behave ethically and to show respect and compassion toward his or her neighbors (and I mean neighbors in the broadest sense), we are all the better off for his or her efforts. We could all benefit by focusing more on the importance of living an ethical and caring life and less on the specific framework within which our fellow travelers find their own worth and meaning. |

Wow, just wait until you meet the real God!
He's not just a tapestry of philosophy but He's a real multi-dimensional being with personality and character. Imagine that! Just as He said He is, and we've experienced first hand. I can't wait for you to meet Him. I know that He can't wait either. |

One can find signs of anything anywhere, if one is of the mind to look for them. People have found images of christ in bad stucco jobs (there's a film coming about it soon), and other (or perhaps the same) people have found diabolical propaganda in heavy metal music.
Finding inspiration is wonderful. Insisting it was intended by the author is pretentious. History is full of people claiming to have found secrets in works of art. Odds are that Charles Manson, for example, was mistaken in his interpretation of The White Album. I'm reminded of the scene from Family Guy where Peter is inspired by a floatig bag (a la American Beauty) and God replies "It's a BAG, for crying out loud! Do you know how intricate your central nervous system is?" |

let me know when you catch up with all the signs of Jesus that He left behind...and his number to call Him, too.
