Disney 'Aida' Film on the Way, with Beyonce to Star?

Beyonce should not play that role. They should let a person whom accurately represents that race play the role, if not an Ethiopian themself. Even if Beyonce had to wear dark make-up, it's not fair to them, because they are not light skinned people. I'm a big Beyonce fan, but she shouldn't play that role.

She should not, I repeat should not play Aida.

I think that Beyonce shoukd do this role. People should give her more credit, she did improve tremendously since Dreamgirls and I think she could pull it off. Plus her voice is great so it would be interesting to see her asa Aida.

I think the best thing would be for the film-makers to do all they can to get the original Broadway cast. I know this is most likely not to happen, but they could try. If not, then anyone but Beyonce and Christina. I like Beyonce and I think she is a pretty good actress and singer, but I just don't think she's right for the role. If she does end up getting cast, I will see the movie and I will probably end up liking her portrayal. And Christina making her film debut? To that I say "No ma'ams, no sirs!" to her and all the people involved in this movie. There are several people who already know how to act that could have this role. And there is no way that Christina looks Egyptian. I know that neither do Sherie Renee Scott or Adam Pascal. Maybe they should look into getting people that actually do look the part. Especially if they can't get OBC.

Agreed, go for the original cast. They know the show, they know the characters. If the OBC is not available, I hope they get other Broadway performers, or unknowns. I sincerely hope Adam Pascal is in it, he was fabulous in RENT.

And I'd love Idina Menzel to play Amneris...

so what if she is not darker but the fact remains that she is black and can take the play with her beautiful voice i encourage her she is such a cutie

I also think that that they should get the obc for the movie. Beyonce is not right for the part even though she can sing I don't think that she can act. I would love it if Adam Pascal played Radames for the movie.

I think Jennifer Hudson would be an amazing Aida. I am just not convenced that Beyonce can pull it off. With crappy versions of musicals that have been made lately, I hope Disney does not screw this up. I love this musical

i dont want to see anyone as aida except heather headley. her voice amazes me every time. ESPECIALLY not beyonce. even though AIDA is my favorite musical of all time if beyonce is cast i refuse to see it. theres no way she could produce the voice OR the passion that heather did. just wouldnt be the same

Folks think about what happened the last time members of the original broadway cast appeared in a film-it was called The Producers, and it flopped. I am a big theater buff and would love to see the OBC if and only if they can act well onscreen. Sometimes theater actors cannot pull it back for the big screen. Also, people make movies to sell money, so if big names will boost ticket sales then that's what producers will do. Just something to think about...

They should cast with the original broadway cast, namely, Heather HEadley as Aida, Sheri Renee Scott as Amneris and ADAM PASCAL as Radames.

As in the song "Dance of the Robe"....nothing less will do.
