Slow hand can still quicken pulse

Full story: The Sydney Morning Herald

There are tens of thousands of guitarists who can play acceptable 12-bar blues. What makes Eric Clapton so special is that, after 45 years, he still conveys the impression that every note he plays is new, fresh ...

I learned to play guitar listening to Eric in the 80's and hearing him and his band play all the old bluesey numbers was like being reunited with some old friends. Im disappointed that what he did went right over the heads of many people. Frinstance I heard stupid comments like.
"Oh he didnt play Shot the Sherrif"
or a woman siting next to me who said.
"Rod Stewart was better..... at least Rod talked to the crowd"
Too bad she didnt get it. Eric talked alright, he was screaming and wailing at us all night.
Too bad that woman had the hearing ability of a drunken cow.
Erics show was a virtual plethora of sonic expression and improvisational mastery. All egos were in check, no one was trying to hog the limelight, and more than a few times when Eric could have ripped into another solo he left it up to one of his sidemen. The concert was a showcase for new talent, as a guitar player I spent the night in electric guitar heaven. I can see now why they used to spray paint Clapton is God all over the UK back in the 1960's

I saw Derek and the Dominos in November of 1970 at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. They were phenomenal!! Duane Allman did not do the Chicago concert, but they were still great. Clapton played mostly all of the cuts from The Layla album. It was great seeing Jim Gordon play the piano solo on "Layla". He is now in a sanitarium in San Luis Obispo Mental Hospital for bludgeoing his mother to death. He is a great drummer. Sad he suffered from "Schizophrenia". Anyway the were a great band and I wanted to say they were worth the $15.00 I paid to see them ,and Elton John in 1970

Eric is a CLASS ACT, now matter how bad he's feeling he gives his all,...that's hard.
Derek and the Dominoes work caught my attention and have been his ever since.
AS far as his technique,..NO ONE can play like ERIC,..NO ONE.
If you like flames flashing off the fret board, he's got it, if you like beautiful melodies,..he has them. he has it all.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Gemini

You're in a warm-hearted and generous mood today, especially when dealing with loved ones and members of the family. You want to give them as much of your time as possible, and also to do anything else that will keep them happy. The only snag will come if you're trying to spread yourself too thin and you end up making promises that will be difficult, if not impossible, to keep. You may forget all about them but other people won't.
