Trish Long: Famous folks from El Paso

Lupe Ontiveros was born in El Paso and graduated from El Paso High School. She has appeared in numerous films starting with Zoot Suit onstage alongside Eddie Olmos Jr. before it became a film.

She is my relative and still owns the home of her now deceased father Johnny Moreno on Pierce St. We miss you Johnny!

Adam Duritz of Counting Crows spent some teen-age years here, as did Nikki Six of Motley Crue, as a kid. Many, many other rock and rollers either born here or have lived here.

A quick Google of Stevie Nicks El Paso shows that she did live here, as well as does/did have a connection here.

Eddie Guerrero pro-wrestler with the WWE who was WWE champion and a member of the WWE Hall of Fame. Eddie was born in El Paso and attended Jefferson High School. Eddie also named one of his finishing moves "The Lasso from El Paso".

Vikki Carr, international singer and entertainer ("It Must Be Him", "Total", "Cosas del amor") was born in El Paso on [[July 19, 1941.

Debbie Reynolds, singer/actress was born in El Paso on [[April 1, 1932.
"El Paso" by Marty Robbins was a popular Country ballad released in 1959.

Juan Gabriel started his singing career by singing for passengers on the electric trollies that connected El Paso and Ciudad Juárez.

Fleetwood Mac held their first concert that featured Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham in El Paso in 1975. Stevie Nicks attended Loretto Academy in El Paso as a teenager.

Stevie Nicks did live here, buddy. She talks about it fondly. I think she went to Loretto.

Currently, perhaps the most famous person from El Paso is Alana de la Garza, the ADA from Law and Order.

The mars volta are pretty famous. not in the US so much but overseas.

Interesting, I did not know that about Stevie Nicks, and I'm a big fan Thanks. I'll never look at Loretto Academy the same way when I drive by there, lol.
