Are you hostile because you are in strong support of the film, or one of it's cast? Or are you against a bit of good natured ribbing? Care to talk?

until i see the true film, then i can discuss it which would be the unrated version. bottom line; this is a free world and i'm sick of people telling me what i should like and dislike.

I never told you or anyone what they should or shouldn't like. I simply stated MY opinion... I thought that was what forums were for...my mistake. If you truly believe in a "free world", then why are you so angry when someone other than yourself forms an opinion?

O.K. let discuss the film. I'm not angry. It may have come across in that respect but, no I'm not! So please go ahead and converse. what didn't you like about the film?

Well, for one thing , I wasn't well pleased with the poor use of some very talented British actors. I'm glad that the film didn't have the usual preoccupation with London's many overused land marks, but did they have to dwell on THAT building?
I also felt that the writing could have been a little less cliche. No, I'm not an expert on film making,but as I invest a my money in them, I feel I should be allowed a voice...as should everyone

The talented British actors made the choice to be apart in the film. Sometimes a script reads well, but the director approach can change everything. I'm not an expert on film making as well, but I could see areas in which the director had lost his way. But, that is not the actors fault.

Yes, the actors did choose to be apart of the project...I'm sure they had their reasons. Not every choice is a good one.... It would make it a lot easier if you could tell me what drew you to the film. My interest was David Thewlis, pure and simple.
The reason for the birthday comment in my first message was that my adult daughters always get me the latest David Thewlis film for my birthday...and I really don't know how I feel about that....

David Thewlis is a brilliant actor. Do you think he would attached himself with something that wasn't in his best interest? Of course not! But for me, because he took that risk, i see me differently, in a attractive way. Life is about taking risk and for an actor you must! Playing it safe all the time is boring. Why don't you encourage your daughter to take you to see "The omen". David is apart of the cast in that film.

I am going to Omen alone. I hate horror films, and plan to leave as soon as David's head is off. No one I know would want to leave before the end of a film. I'm old enough to have gone to the original, and didn't bother then.
I don't wish to imply that I'm a silly sort of fan. It doesn't bother me if his characters come to harm....it's a job. I DO mind if the role doesn't reflect his talent. I respect him too much to pat him on the back for something that wasn't to his usual standard. I would expect people to treat me the same. Of course, I'm a nurse, so I think the results of not living up to my talent would cause a bit of a problem.......

A fan's job is to stick with their subject, through good and bad. Especially through the bad times. You cannot compare your job to an actor. You are saving lives every day, while an actor pretend to save lives. You cannot compare both professions. When an actor takes a role in any film, he is not working alone. Your supporting cast has be above you or parallel to your talent. The key is the director. A good director brings out the character with great range.

I wasn't comparing jobs...I was making a joke. I speak "Brit", you see... I live in Canada, but I'm from London.Just across the Thames from Clerkenwell, as fate would have it. But, given my advanced age, perhaps you'll allow me to pick up your thread and go a bit "hippy"... we ALL depend on our teams...whoever they might be.... And I beg to differ about performers not saving lives. Studies have been done showing that a great many suicidal people have drawn the hope to seek treatment and live happier lives from the people they idolize. And for that they deserve our thanks.

Idolize people is not wise, for people are human and they too, make mistakes. That is why I've stated above the duty of a true fan. I agree that performers does save lives but, with light hearted material. I love to watch films that are entertaining. I try to stay away from deep serious films. We all need to laugh about life and escape by going to see films that doesn't takes itself too seriously.

It's not only the light hearted stuff that helps. The psychology is that in seeing a character suffer and overcome, a person can put their own situation into perspective and overcome, themselves. Yes, we all need to laugh, and we all need to feel love (read Maslow). I am NOT advocating idol worship as a cure for depression. What I AM saying is that if a celebrity brings about an unlooked for search for a treatment program. Why do you think it is that so many celebs speak up on issues involving mental health?
And while this all sounds dark.....it was through making a joke that I've found myself discussing this in the first place......

Yes, you are correct! That is why I'm happy we have a varity of different films to satisfy our need. And how boring it would be if all film were the same. I do thank god for the celeb who has made great inpact on issues and awareness,for there are fans out there that do idolize their subjects. I'm not one of them. I like to use the word "admiration". where are we going with this anyways? Yeah, lets move on to something delightful.

O.k., I have the ability to make myself completely unintelligable to the average American....not to mention Canadian. Makes living here a bit of a struggle sometimes....I try, I really do...(or is that "I'm trying...VERY). If you don't get what I mean, speak up! I'm used to people saying "HUH?" So...on to David (don't we wish...) Common ground....

Lighten up! By the way, I've fallen inlove with David Morrissey. You see, not all the british actors disappoints.

I never said that British celebrities disappointed.In fact I'm a bit national-centric where it comes to actors. I don't usually go on about them, since Canadians mostly know American stars, and Americans tend to think I'm putting their faves down by building mine up.
Give me a reference point, will you? Are you teen, adult, senior? Male or female? I DON'T want personal info...I'm way too paranoid for that. I'd just like to know I'm not offending you, or that your Mum isn't going to curse me for keeping you up too late.Or your spouse.
I'm not a big Morrissey fan, but I've nothing against him.
