There are 2 chapters in the book that relate to a an actress called "missie". I'm almost certain that actress is "Fay Wray".

Why do you think it is Fay Wray?

I think one is Lana Turner, and the long story about Missie having a nervous breakdown and David having to stay with her is about Vivien Leigh

It's a compilation of Lana Turner and Vivien Leigh. Niven was a true gentleman, and close with both, and he changed some identifying characteristics, but both women's breakdown stories have appeared in other publications. Although most reports say this is all Vivien Leigh, it is mostly about Lana Turner, with some details of the actual weekend long breakdown coming from an episode Niven had with Leigh.
This comes from my father who was part of that social circle back in the day.

Julia's answer seems most accurate to me. "Our Little Girl - Pt I" sounds like all Lana (with some identifying characteristics altered), but the weekend breakdown section of "Pt II" sounds like Vivien Leigh's freak-out.

I always admired David Niven. I read "The Moon is a Baloon" and "Bring the Empty Horses" many years ago. I enjoyed them very much. I have partially reread the "The Moon ...". I havenīt read other biographies. Some comments in the web say he was no angel. I suppose that he might have not been an angel from an outside Hollywood perspective.

The "womanizer and heavy drinker " how bad was it ?

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Gemini

You're in a warm-hearted and generous mood today, especially when dealing with loved ones and members of the family. You want to give them as much of your time as possible, and also to do anything else that will keep them happy. The only snag will come if you're trying to spread yourself too thin and you end up making promises that will be difficult, if not impossible, to keep. You may forget all about them but other people won't.
