Darden is crazy to pull the ads. Letterman is getting awesome ratings created by this bullcrap that Palin is pulling.

I agree. B-L-A-N-D food, with very little authenticity, served in a theme park setting. Exactly what most Central Floridians seem to go for! Give me a 'real' mom & pop operation. As for the ads, nothing could entice me to eat at Olive Garden. Palin and her supporters (a.k.a. "Dumb and Dumber") need to get over it. It was a JOKE, and the man offered an appropriate apology. Move on!

Ummmm... PALIN hasn't pulled anything. She went to NY, brought her young daughter, went to a game - and had this joker give a VERY insulting joke about her daughter while she was there. No one with half a brain believes he didn't mean the 14 year when he gave the joke - he is just an angry old politico man that doesn't put his brain in gear. He then tried to excuse it off saying he meant the 18 year old. Heck - that joke was not even good for an 18 year old (or any female). And when he finally figured that out, he finally had to give an apology a week later than his publicist wrote for him. PALIN on the other hand, after calling him out on it - accepted his lame apology. Heck - even The View - sided with Palin on this one. And if they do - then you KNOW how wrong Letterman was.

HOWEVER - others - not associated with Palin, but rather associated with groups that simply detest the dirty old man himself, have taken it on themselves to protest him.

I applaud the people with taste that don't let this kind of thing stand - against anyone. I don't care whose kid this joke was against - it was wrong. I would imagine A-Rod is not too happy with it either.

Darden - if you are reading this - I am not as big of a fan of Olive Garden as I am some of your other restaraunts. However, if you truly are not advertising on Letterman anymore - YOU HAVE JUST WON MY BUSINESS, AS WELL AS MY FAMILIES!

Are you sure they are not just pulling their ads because their business is down 40% and they are going under?

Unlike DAVE who has higher ratings than anyone on late night!! DAVE RULES! Palin is a publicity-ho!

We all want to thank Brad, WOWee and Richard Neilan for showing us the bottom of IQ for comment writers. Maybe Obama is looking for a Restaurant Food and Ad Czar and you three meet his test for placing blame and lack of business experience.

What i question is that anyone would really think David even really know which daughter was with the uh, Senator who still hasn't paid back the $100,000.00 she stole for trips and clothing for her fail attemp campaigne?

I will boycott Darden. Censorship and chilling of free speech in any form is despicable.

Companies should not be bullied by some moose-hunting, overactively breeding, slackjawed yokel from Alaska who doesn't read books or newspapers.

Their food isn't very good anyway. It won't be a difficult choice to stay away.

I received an email from Hellman's. They're pulling all online ads from Letterman's web page due to the Palin joke.

So maybe we just don't need to eat at Olive Garden the rest of the year. I'm disappointed in the company.

Hmmmm and Sentinel Blather and I can't tell for sure but Andrea may be leaning towards the Palin camp in this fray. Out of 12 total posts let's call that 2 opposed to free speech and 1 hanging chad. Looks like Olive Gardens base is safe in the Villages. Not so much in the free world.

If they were pulling the ads, it would not happen in this manner. Besides, there are hundreds of reasons for pulling ads. They may not have been effective. They may not have been reaching the target audience. They may need to cut advertising budget and be more strategic in placement. These cuts never usually happen very fast. It is likely it was in the works well before when the issue occurred.

Anyone who actually thinks a Governor in America does not read newspapers deserves to eat at OLIVE GARDEN.

I support free speech. Lettermen can say whatever he wants to say and I can boycott anyone I choose to including Lettermen sponsors.

"Opposed to free speech"?? What are you talking about? Did someone arrest Letterman or otherwise prevent him from broadcasting? Obviously not. How is Darden's decision, which appears to be based upon business considerations, inhibit Letterman's freedom of speech? I would expect a more intelligent post from an Olive Garden bread stick.

I don't care which daughter he was talking about it was freakin funny. Anyone with a brain would associate to the daughter that had already been knocked up and then went on national TV with her dad to denounce teen sex. HA HA HA...it was good for me but not for YOU. Like Letterman said IT WAS A JOKE..laugh in jest or in discust..but move on...it was a JOKE PEOPLE! As for Olive Garden..go to Carrabba's and have a GREAT meal!
