Overrated Beckham

David Beckham is the most overrated soccer player in the world. Maybe if your aged between 6-12 you may think that he's great, but anyone that knows anything about soccer knows that he's overrated. How can you compare Beckham to Ronaldinho etc!! No doubt his crossings are accurate but that's about all he's good at. He is only at Real Madrid to sell shirts. Even his Captaincy for England is under threat as most of England think that either John Terry or Steven Gerrard should be Captain.

I think that beckham is the most overatted player in ever to participate in football. Real Madrid only keep him cos he brings in the crownds and if they dont play him he will probably go have a cry to a newspaper or magazine company about how bad the coach is and since everybody who knows nothing about football loves him, they will agree with him. He is not even a very mature player spitting on people and getting red cards, i think that john terry, a defender who gets more goals the beckham or the srtiker michael owen or steven gerrard would make much better captians and england should consider this for the world cup in germany.

I know alot about football, I have been watching it for many years, studying it etc. David Beckham, isn't actually a good player. He is by far over-rated, there are lots of better players that play his, like Petrov (Celtic)etc. Lots of people think he is good, I say those people are non-educated in the world of football. Okay, okay, he is good, but he isn't that good. He is not even in the top ten, In my opinion. Plus, most of the people who think he is good are about 5 or 6.

david beckham is good at passing the ball nothing else! he just brings in the revenue from asia because alot of lies are told about him to make him great and alot of teenage girls fancy him. football is a mans game and real men are captains not this metrosexual squeaky voiced gay icon! david beckham is a natural born model and the worlds most overrated and overhyped sportsman!

although beckham is overrated, he is a great player which we must admit,but i think it would be better if Steven Gerrard can be the capital

The whole England team is vastly overated, some of us have been saying this for a long time.
Now they're blaming their poor performances on erickson. So if sven is the reason why they can't pass the ball or maintain possesion, does that mean if he takes over Argentina, spain or Holland they will start giving the ball away and rely on route one football

Beckham is not over- rated. He is a decent player who at the top of his game is the best right midfielder in the world, so many people in football have said that. Not a mature player? Did you see how Gerrard reacted to get fouled a while ago. Beckham's a great captain it's a shame he's stepped down, although I think Terry should be the next main man.

please,dont keep buying into the hype.Beckham had 5 major tournaments to prove he was in any way a "great" player and failed in ascendingly comical and embarrassing manner.His utterly shameful and pathetic performance at euro2004 should have spelt the end of his massive and undue influence over the national set-up but alas we travelled on for 2 more years on this vacant and empty road to the world cup.There he finished in fitting style for somebody so bloated and so self-obsessed with thos stomach-churning and self-regarding tears which were all about him and him alone.Dont bring him back!!!

I too watch football and i now that beckham is a good player because,he was a part of manchster and real madrid and this are very good clubs.I just dont like fabio capello becuse he think that he is the best coach on the planet !!! DAVID YOU ARE THE BESTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Beckham is not a great player. He cannot dribble, beat a defender and is no good with his head. As for his crossing and free kicks, England have many other players that can do this. When you look at other players (Ronalidinho etc.), there is no comparison. Here in England, he is not very popular and he will not revolutionise MLS soccer.

Since that day, Beckham remains one of the most technically gifted players we have - and whatever you like to think, the other players all looked to him as an example of focus when things got tough (as they often did due to tactical and managerial incompetence!). Regardless of sporadic media coverage, anyone that has witnessed Beckham play LIVE will know that his awareness, reaction speed, determination and constant movement separate him from many other England players. Terry may now be England captain, but at least Beckham didn't need to tell everyone about what a great captain he is or will be. Yes, they both practice self-promotion, but Beckham was respectful enough not to boast about being a great captain. Great leaders don't need to tell people that they are one! Beckham is a credit to England, and will be a valuable asset to the MLS. I know that many English fans will seek television coverage, and i already know a number are looking at attending games in person. This is reflective of the respect the educated fan holds for a great England captain, strong character and a player that has undoubtedly helped England retain credibility on the world stage by way of having a genuinely world-class talent and disposition.

well, if he sucks so much, why does he get paid so much? he must be the first professional player in any sport to get paid for not being good. I find it hard to believe it's just his looks.

a real football fan?a real clueless plastic trendy more like.Beckham was a pathetic "capatin".We have just had it confirmed in england by someone who knew the coach eriksson that the other players didnt respect him atall-in fact they were irritated by all the unjust hype and favouritsm shown to him.He was a rubbish capatin in 2002 when england should have beaten brazil but didnt because he gutlessly avoided a tackle which led to their goal and didnt show any leadership whatsoever in the 2nd half against 10 men.He was even worse in euro2004 with pathetic,comical penalties and a useless tournament display.And he topped it off in world cup 2006 by doing nothing yet again in the quarter-final match against portugal and then getting substituted and sitting there crying for his own losses while "his" team were still in the match.Truly shocking record,a joke that the guy was ever made captain but that was the power of celebrity in that era.

Everyone keeps complaining how David Beckham is overrated and such. I personally do not think that he is, however, if you do, that's your opinion and I respect that. But if you really think about it...so what if he is overrated? He's accomplished so much thus far and now he's even moving to the States to make soccer an even bigger hit. The only England player to score in three world cups, huge endorsement deals, amazingly good looking and fans all over the world? BECKS IS AWESOME!
