The Flagship Niagara League should try to recover some of the money that disappeared under the previous League director's tenure.
I thought the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania funded the Niagara? Maybe someone should go over the books? Lotta missing money there...
The Commonwealth does fund the Niagara and the operations of the Maritime Museum, but like many, if not most of the other Commonwealth supported museums, a non-profit arm helps raise money for operations, exhibits, etc.
The League, as I understand, raises money for the Brig's operations including paying seasonal crew.
The Flagship Niagara League was run into the ground by the previous director. An undetermined amount of money went missing and no legal action was taken against her. She has since gone onto a job at Behrend.
All the other volunteers at the Brig and Museum are absolutely fantastic and have kept the Museum and Brig going with their dedication and selflessness.
