A state judge ordered Daniel Dae Kim yesterday to pay a $500 fine and perform 72 hours of community service after the "Lost" television show actor pleaded no contest to driving drunk.

Hawaii needs to change the Law, so that anyone is caught with a DUI will have their vehicle impounded and driving priveledges suspended 1 year minimum.

Politicians, judges, police, should get TRIPLE the penalty.

Actors get special priviledges and everyone else goes to jail. He should be in jail because he could have killed someone or disabled them for life. Normal citizens get jail time...when will these actors stop being put on a pedestal? A fine of $500 is a slap on the wrist, nothing else... besides that he is a terrible actor in a boring show

"First time offenders convicted of an OVUII can have up to a 90-day suspension of their license. Sometimes an individual will be allowed to drive with limited rights. For instance, they may be permitted to drive back and forth from work. They can also be sent to programs teacher drug and alcohol safety as well as treatment for any drug and alcohol problems. Forty-eight hours to five days of jail time could be sentenced. A person might also need to complete 72 hours of community service. Fines of $150-$1000 can be incurred as well."

Above is where the info came from. So it looks like $500 is an average fine. Though I didn't see anything in the article about his license being suspended at all.

Using that logic, a poor person should pay nothing? Sentences should be fair across the board. I agree, he should do community service with MADD, maybe speak to schools, community groups and offender classes.
