So you oppose the bailout passed by Congress and especially the ridiculous attached pork. Where are your thanks to Congressman Todd Platts for standing up against the pressure put on him by both parties and voting NO on the bailout? You are always quick to criticize Platts when it serves your and Avillo's interests, though you always tout your former Republican leanings, your deep understanding of the issues, and your openmindedness. If you truly are so informed and open minded PP, you should give credit where credit is due.

Why would I "thank" Congressman Platts for finally saying "no" after he's helped the Bush administration grow the national debt from five trillion to over ten trillion dollars since he's been in congress... Give me a break... However, "Lydia from Philadelphia" or whoever you are, I am glad to see you're reading what I write... now start learning from it...

Nothing to learn from you Paul Linguini. All your interested in is whether someone, anyone, has a (D) behind their name. Voting the same as grandpa did.
Doing research, discovered the number of congress persons, divided by the total registered lobbyists in Washington, equals 70 lobbyists per congressperson. Now there is the problem. The perks are too great for any of them to disband lobbying. Learn anything new Paul, didn't think so, as you already know EVERYTHING. Continue the good work Todd. We in York County have you covered. Thanks!

Here's the other thing I find hillarious about a number of the Platts Supporters who respond to my letters. You all think I'm some sort of "Avillo Operative". Like I'm really a Democrat and a member of his campaign team. I'm not. I wrote an e-mail to both Prof. Avillo and Rep. Platts two years ago. Prof. Avillo repsonded to the e-mail. Congressman Platts did not, I still have no idea why. I even stood next to his sister in 2006 at the Newberry Twp polling location handing out flyers for Prof. Avillo. When I left I asked Congressman Platt's sister to have her brother contact me. I gave her my phone number and e-mail address. She asked me why. I said, because he'll probably still my representative and I'd like to hear his response to my e-mail. He STILL didn't contact me.

In the meantime I've only ever met Prof. Avillo once, two years ago in September at some fair in Camp Hill. Then, as the election came closer, I volunteered to hand out fliers for him.

My being a registered Republican in the 19th District from at least 2000 until I left in 2003 is a matter of public record. My being a registered Republican in Dauphin County before I moved across the river is also a matter of public record. I left the area for Baltimore County, where again my being a registered Republican is a matter of public record. I came back here in August 2005. When I registered again, Katrina had taken place and I had changed my affiliation to Independent.

I have no attachment to Prof. Avillo other then the fact that I support him and think he's a better choice then Congressman Platts. But my critics here assume I am as I said before, some kind of Avillo staff member. I can only assume that those accusing me of that do so because they are Platt's staffers... People usually are what they accuse others of being.

And Representative Platts should spend all day on the phone/computer, answering crack pot questions from true blooded Republicans, such as yourself. You're a real bull$hit artist, guess that makes me one also.
Why should Todd Platts sister pay any attention to someone handing out Avillo flyers. Avillo will forget about you as soon as he gets his a$$ kicked, again.

Lydia's Friend, thank you for being a shining example of why this election season has degraded to the level it has reached. First, you ignored the point I raised as to why I wasn't praising Congressman Platts NO vote. Then you make sweeping and incorrect assumptions about me. After that you mock my name which is extremely juvenile in light of the fact you won't use your own.
This is how it goes, at that point you're only a step or two away from name calling and eventually showing up a rally to scream "kill him" in regards to the opposition candidate in the Presidential race... It's disgraceful.
Say what you want about me, I certainly don't sweat the rantings of someone hiding behind a pseudonym. I do disagree with Congressman Platts. But at no point have I disrespected him as a person or the position he holds. My guess is that Congressman Platts respects the process and would find your lack of respect for the process, the opposition and the opposition's supporters inappropriate.

Why is it that you place all blame for our woes on the Republicans? The Democrats have had control of Congress for the past two years; why did they not head off this crisis? Perhaps you, like others, need to realize that it's not our government that created this crisis. Why is it that the government gets all of the blame for losses when it got none of the credit for the fabulous gains of the past? Why are losses socialized when gains are personalized? Wall Street did not share with the people all of the wealth gained in the glory days of the past. Now they want the people to share in the losses. Not fair.

You douche bag...seriously.... you Democrats short term memory. I always thought mean Republicans hated minorities and did nothing for them? Well, now Republicans are getting blamed for the fact we needed a bail out.. I guess Barney Frank (by the way if you need a male escort he can hook you up from his house) is a Republican..I guess all those minorities that are hated by Republicans need to actually thank Bush.. right? You dopes. It took both sides to get us where we are at..it took our leadership not being able to say NO to anyone..

James; Where do I blame government for the problem? My original letter expressed anger over the pork in the bailout. Fannie and Freddie were terribly flawed quasi-governemntal agncies for the very reason you point out. You can't privatize gains and socialize losses, and it was set up that way. I also don't even mention Republicans in my original letter. Read before you start tossing rocks.

Another foul mouthed coward hiding behind a pseudonym. Same thing bud, where do I place the blame on the either party for the crisis? The letter is about the additional pork in the bill.

Does this paper have any standards? that you allow lookey's language to be printed on line?

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Virgo

Unfortunately, this looks like being another difficult day, and, as Mars turns retrograde, certain people are quick to take offence or raise their voices. Make sure you aren't adding to the tension by doing or saying something that's provocative or even downright insulting. If you get involved in a shouting match it will be difficult to stop and you could say some nasty things in the heat of the moment.
