You don't have to be a "hilljack" to know that you suck, and so do the Counting CocksI go to see the Crows every chance I get, and I am so glad that they don't play the songs they way they sound on the CD's every night. It is wonderful to hear Duritz add alternate lyrics, which sometimes if you listen closely tell you the story behind the song.
I am tired of going to Counting Crows concerts and hearing "hilljacks" yell for "Mr. Jones" and then complain when you can't sing along. I will say it again, if you want to sing along I've got an extra copy of "August and Everything After" I will lend you, or go find a good cover band and ask them to play the song.
I really enjoyed the set list from the Crows. I agree that it didn't fit the setting very well. It would have been better appreciated in a setting like Butler. Collective Soul and Live were fast paced, and the set list from the Crow's didn't match. I've seen the Crows over a dozen times now and it was great to hear some songs I've never heard live before (i.e. Ghost Train).
For all of you complaining about the Counting Crows, please don't expect to hear the album versions of the songs when they "hopefully" come back next year in support of their new album.
Rock bands, fans get comfortable at ballpark

Crows did suck and Duritz is an arrogant, Bay Area schmuck. He should quit. And this Star piece is typical fluff, no info, insight, etc. The Indians are back soon, thankfully, for real entertainment. |

Yep, a total rip off. NO ONE should support these greedy fools in Hollywood or music. They could care less about the fans. Only the Mass Ave crowd can afford to be so cavalier with their $. |

The cost of cleaning up the disaster that these punks turned the stadium into should be passed on to these millionaire drug addicts. All the freaking scumbags who went should have found something productive to do instead of going to a stadium to listen to so called music and do drugs. The cops should set up sobriety checkpoints at the exit of every rock concert, at least then the city could make some money off of this waste of humanity.

I absolutely loved Victory Field as a concert venue. It was infinitely better than Deer Creek/Verizon. Easy to get to, plenty of bath rooms, a great view, and easy to escape. I hope concerts down here become common.
The Crows were as great as always. |

my goodness, truth. this degenerate scumbag is a teacher and a huge LiVE fan. i dont recall doing any drugs, and only had one $7 beer bacause i don't live on mass ave. i was on the fence closest to the stage all evening and had a good time (even if the crows were horribly outperformed). i think you are just upset that the dude you were cracking on wasn't giving you any play. go find yourself someone to hug and calm down. do not think for a second that victory field management did not know what they were getting themselves into. and, surely you do not think they did not learn anything from this first outing. |

It must suck for you to be so stupid. |

i went to the l'ville show the night before. Collective Soul and Live were awesome...and far from knockoffs of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. The author doesn't know much about 90's rock apparently.
Counting Crows played the worst set I'd ever heard in my life...off pitch, possibly drunk, and the band started playing different songs at the same time on more than one occassion... |

I loved the entire show -- atmosphere, bands, everything. QUESTION: Does anybody know where I saw Counting Crows in Summer 1994 at some old theater on the east side? I was pretty new to Indy at the time, and I have no idea where this club was. Alex Chilton opened...it was standing room only...I think it used to be a theater....I don't think it's there anymore...Broad Ripple or Shadeland/Emerson area? HELP!!!!!!

no wait, check the Vogue's website. they have an archive that will show you every show dating way back even before the 90's. |
They were doing all the same drugs you were loser, they don't remember any better than you do. |
|
not really, decider. the crows were/are awful and this is why it was so forgettable. it was just a question. why the name calling? your intellect is judged on what you say. |
|
There was plenty of restrooms you moron because there was only 7000 people. Deer Creek is and always will be the best concert venue. |

How funny! I'm an almost-50-year old Mom with two little girls. Drugs? Ha! You're really funny! |

anytime you go to a cc concert you will be disappointed with setlist....they have so many songs and can only play so many....the ones they do play are awesome, great live band....not cookie cutter bull like some bands, live and coll soul were both great....for those of you who didnt like...try watching them sober sometime...you can get drunk or stoned and listen to all the songs you want to just the way you want to from home....
