This is a bad decision. Leno should have gone to another network and been competition for O'Brien, who will not make it. Conan does not have the personality it takes to be another Johnny Carson or Jay Leno. After the way NBC behaved, Leno lost his chance at staying a #1 late night host. He will not have the rating at 10pm as he has in the late night slot. Too bad. Things are in such a mess.

the same leno show on at 10 pm sounds dumb. why even change things at all?
it really seems like it could make things tough for nbc original programming. not that it's all that successful at the current time anyway. but this makes it even tougher for new stuff.

Give NBC a year and they will be looking to move Leno's show back to its old time slot. This is about short term cash flow issues, and knowing they could not afford to have Leno go against them on another network.

Wow NBC makes another horrible move. I didn't think they could dig their grave any deeper... Atleast this will free up my night even more to watch better quality shows on other networks

KLP - I'm guessing you're in the central or mountain time zone? In that case, Leno would be on at 9 - or whatever the final hour of primetime is where you live.

I believe this shows off the sell out, classless generation of NBC. Jay Leno may be a work-a-holic but couldn't he do something other than be a competitor or back-stabbing Conan. Then again, everyone remember what NBC and Leno did to letterman. I guess it's predictable. Still, it should be called what it is with no sugar coating. Uncouth, unclassy, scrupulous, coniving, money-grubbing....
Conan, I beleive in you. Your writing has always been worthy. Your satirical comedy is worthy of Johnny Carson's Job. So, was Letterman. Unfortunately, your under a corporation that has no idea what morals, loyalty, integrity, dignity and shame is. If I were you, I'd find a way to get out of the contract with the slime (if even possible). Your big enough to carry your show again Leno and Letterman.

Wow. So rather than come up with intelligent, compelling scripted television, NBC essentially wants to be the network that attracts all the idiot viewers who don't want to actually have to think when they watch television.

More time for me to watch the other networks, I guess.

So, essentially, NBC is now Fox 2, with only two hours available each night for programming. The only thing that could be more brilliant would be if Ben Silverman filmed a show about his daily bowel movements, called it "edgy and original," then put it on after The Biggest Loser. That was sarcastic, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.

Seriously, I like Jay Leno, but he is a hit in late night for one reason...he's in late night. Against CSI:Miami and other 10 pm shows, he's going to feel like Rosie O'Donnell a couple weeks ago. And as for Conan O'Brien taking over The Tonight Show, NBC hasn't yet figured out that as funny as he can be, he is a niche comic who does not appeal to everybody. I'd be surprised if, after a year, he'll be pulling in even half of Leno's audience.

Ah, well, I guess NBC now stands for Nicely Bronzed Coffin, because the network, to paraphrase Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman, is day-ud.

We watch or tape primetime on our five tv's and vcr's
The NBC shows Iwe watch ARE on at the 10pm timeslot, but only Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday. NO NBC for us on Thursday or Friday.
So, it's easy for us to change our TV watching to include Jay's new show.
Also, we do not like Conan O' and have no plans to watch him.
However, out of the appox. 33 shows we watch or tape during the year 11 are on CBS. Dontcha think NBC should do some further revsing on the shows they broadcast?

Best wishes for the show Jay. I will probably DVR his show and watch after other programs on CBS and ABC. Personally I think that NBC will regret the 10pm shift, but I hear they will save big bucks. The Leno Show only cost 2 million per week where as 1 hour of a drama can run about 3 million per episode. So ala in all its a good thing I won't have to worry about getting into an NBC show that will be cancelled like Lipstick Jungle, My Own Worst Enemy, and Journey Man all show I'm sad to see leave the air.

Wow no love for Conan here really. That makes me very sad :( I'm one of his biggest fans ever. Sigh. I'll watch him or tape his show whatever time it airs. Heh I have to admit I hate Jay though, lol. Or his writers. His monologue is hands down the worst and least funny one out of pretty much all the late night shows.
